Now that CapFriendly is no more, which site do you use for NHL contract information?

I'm fine with PuckPedia so far. It's user friendly enough. And you can list cap details alongside on-ice stats like points.

But I haven't used CapWages much. It does look like it has some cool features, like listing projections and comparables for UFAs,

I prefer CapWages and I can't even remember why because it's been so long since I used PuckPedia. There's some tool they have that PP doesn't have, and I can't remember what it was.

Both pale in comparison to CapFriendly, though.

I like capwages' layout as its basically a copy of capfriendly but it seems to take longer to be updated than puckpedia and puckpedia's GM tool is much better

In all honesty, we've made a bunch of changes to our site over the last few months (including an improved homepage that we launched yesterday) and we hope people are liking it.

The thing I hate about both is neither tracks trades directly from a player's page.

You could do that with CapFriendly.

Mainly utilize Capwages as the UI is a lot better, but I trust PuckPedia's data more.

As others have mentioned, neither are close to Capfriendly.

Hey there, last night we added another section to the team page to show recent trades/signings/news. Moved it up a lot higher from where it was previously.

While we got you here.... love to see easy ways to find various things like list of players with deferred salary, list of players Aug 15th expiring rights, and a mock draft tool.

I prefer CapWages to check contracts; I generally don't need the up to the minute numbers for what I'm looking at, and PuckPedia's layout isn't as useful (doesn't go as far out into the future, way too much white space, way too much stuff before you get to the actual contract amounts, having all the draft picks visible up front is better than having to hover over the numbers one at a time to see which actual pick or picks they have), but I still spend as much time trolling PuckGM to look at proposed trades as I do on CapWages anyway.

Also, PuckPedia provides the underlying data for Puckdoku, for which I am eternally grateful.

CapWages is a nicer layout/clone of CapFriendly. Except not sure they really stay on top of things or put as much work into things as PuckPedia? I'm glad we at least still have these. Neither one is even close to CapFriendly, alas. But I'll take the cloning effort of CapWages, incomplete as it is.

I find the layout and the UI in puckpedia very difficult to read. Its messy and cluttered. I like CapWages much better.

Yep Puckpedia is the way to go,
I prefer the more accurate and up to date version of caps and contracts.

The PuckPedia site layout takes some getting used to, there is a ton of information displayed on (for example) a team's main page. But I found once I got used to the layout, the better quality of data won out.

One comment I'll make for our distinguished guest in this thread - When comparing the two, and noting that many people prefer the CapWages layout, one observation is that PP does not make good use of the entire display. Enormous portions of the left and right are just blank. Whereas CW uses that space to help spread out the information, makes it a little easier (to me at least) to process it all.

But all in all, both sites try to provide a free resource to us fans, and for that I'm very grateful.

There were a bunch of players out of NCAA whose rights could have expired on August 15, 2024, but not all did. For those that went back for fifth years, some had their rights maintained, others did not get offer and rights released.

CapWages and PuckPedia have different information on which players rights are still owned. It appears some of these guys signed AHL deals with parent club. Others returned to school.

How does one reconcile without calling central registry or teams themselves?

As you probably know there's some manual components to tracking rights, such as did the guy graduate (and even did he send forward proof of graduation). In those situations we usually reach out to some of their representatives to confirm the statuses.
