GDT: Capt America @ Ratless Bruins 7pm EST

Any info on D situation? With Trent F gone, can’t imagine the need for DM, unless they plan to dress their version of Rempe?

Win-win scenario in play here.

Zero points for Bruins helps their tank for top-5 pick and works out for Caps snapping their L streak and they benefit from having Bruins 2nd rounder.

Ovechkin or Leonard goal along the way wouldn’t hurt either.

Borrowed from the link below:
"Leonard is a unicorn. His approach to the game is different than most of his peers who are developing into NHL forwards. His combination of skill and will are attractive elements. He’s a shooter who can be deployed in the bumper position or the flank on the power play, but he has the vision to make plays from the top of the zone and off the cycle as well.

Leonard will lean on opponents and push back in the hard areas on a consistent basis. He scored 25 of his goals at even strength this season, which tells me he isn’t shy about operating in traffic and doesn’t require open ice to impact the game offensively.

In time Leonard will develop into a top-six power forward for the Washington Capitals. I believe he will end up being a 30-goal scorer who delivers north of 200 hits per year.

But for this spring, in his first taste of NHL action, he should add another layer of physicality and secondary scoring to an already balanced Washington Capitals forward group."

14-10 caps
Green 4G, Niskanen 3G, Latta 2G, Glencross 2G, Galiyev 1G, Laich 1G, Orpik 1G

Soderberg 3G, Spooner 3G, Kelly 1G, Seidenberg 1G, Eriksson 1G, Lucic 1G

I'm kind of weirded out about how much hype there is around this.

I'm trying to keep my expectations low.
Perfect team to play against. He will have faced the best D man on Sunday night than he'll see tonight. Did he play against Sweden in last years World's? If so there aren't a lot better D corps he will face than that.

Predictions for Captain America
- rookie lap
- 1 big hit
- 1 snipe & sweet celly

Wondering what's the norm for a rookie lap at an opponents rink? Will the B's support giving him his lap, or is it just the Caps who hold off going out on the ice while he get his half to skate alone? Being a Boston local I imagine if he does a rookie lap, he'll hear it from the crowd.

Ovechkin goal chase. Ryan Leonard's first game as a Cap...

AND I just got some sort of HFBoards trophy for LIFER - meaning it's been 15 years now since I've signed up here?

God... I feel so old now.

It's just something a team does for their rookies. What's happening at the other end doesn't matter.

First top-10 prospect to debut for Washington since Alzner in 2008. That was a long time ago… other things that happened that year include:

- Obama had just been elected president for the first time a few weeks earlier
- Lehman Brothers failed that year amid the global financial crisis
- The Dark Knight was released in theatres
- Apple introduced the second generation iPhone, named the iPhone 3G, which included GPS, a first for smartphones
- Michael Phelps won 8 gold medals in the Beijing Olympics
