Value of: Capspace: who has got it?

I wanted the Leafs to sign him before it happened. Anyways, this was fun. Get these chirps in before the playoffs because then you will vanish once the Leafs set aside the Sens

Like you vanish after every playoff series lol.

Yep would be a tight series if happens, since Sens have dominated the leafs lately.

You'll have to remind me the last time the Sens beat the Leafs in a playoff series?
Lmao, 2 plus decades ago, how will that affect any series today?
I’ll wait while you explain how series 20-25 years ago has any affect.
Fun fact Sens have more series wins then the leafs in the last 8 years.
appreciate the laughs though.

26-27 will be interesting for Washington, $50M+ in cap space, 12 spots to fill but a lot of the core will remain in place.

Montreal's currently at 11 mil in cap space with no expensive RFAs or UFAs of note to re-sign. That will go down a bit due to bonus overages, but also doesn't include the last season of Price's LTIRetired contract, so they could have around 20 mil in avaliable room depending on how aggressive they want to get.
Habs could trade Price caphit once his bonus has been paid

The next two years the Canucks have 5 million less than other teams, they pay two other players to play against them on other teams, OEL for another 6+ years.

The added cap space will reduce some trades because most team are still set up from the flat cap for another season or so.
Many of the "had to happen because of the cap" trades are done. Most teams will be able to keep their best prospects.
A few teams will have to make adjustments, trades, but then the choice of players will be very limited.

The bigger cap makes it a sellers market, not a buyers market. Hence why draft picks just became even more important because there will be fewer major trades.

Kings set to have 23.48 million in cap space next offseason but need to resign Gavrikov and Laferriere. Lewis will retire. Kuzmenko and Jeannot will either be re-signed or that money will go towards a Marner like player. Jeannot will not likely get a raise if re-signed. Who knows with Kuzmenko? They’re in a good spot.

Leafs have close to 30 million in space I don't know exactly what the number is but It's close.

What's great about that is they don't need to do a single thing with goaltending other then MAYBE an AHL.

And they don't have to do a single thing on defense.

I suppose if you wanted to nitpick you COULD say they could upgrade on Benoit but he's the #6 guy so I don't really care.

MAYBE you could replace Myers as the #7 but again he's the #7 so I don't really care.

As far as I'm concerned defense and goaltending are set so all that money can good to forwards.

It's actually a huge advantage because there are 3 areas to a team and 2 of them are completely set.

Sharks are going to struggle just to get to the cap floor.
They’ll be fine. They’ll do exactly what they did last year. Take on some higher priced guys that might do well in an increased situation (Walman/Ceci) and sign some FAs to contracts at a little bit over overpays (Wennberg, Toffoli)

Hyperbole to emphasize the vast sum of cap space the Sharks will have.

How much do you think it will take to extend Marner, Knies and Tavares?
Serious question.

Flames can pretty much run the whole team back and have 20 million in cap space. Upgrade on 4C and 2LD

Honestly I'd like to see a winger get moved to make space for young guys as well.

its the rap

diablo

Its a great showing for Canuck fans that there is a whole slew of teams chomping at the bit to get better while our boards think these teams want to actively forever be mid.

A post right above this ^^

Flames can run back an entire team that is doing better than us, while still having 20,000,000 in capspace, while needing an upgrade on 4C and 2LD.

I seen a Habs fan chime into the Barzal to VAN thread will some available assets to trade consisting of Michael Hage, Logan Maillioux, Joshua Roy, two 1sts, and more picks I see they have available while the Canucks need to sacrifice everything they own if they were to compete with that.

Meanwhile the Habs fan was able to leave out his teams two best prospects. The Canucks might seriously need to trade Willander and Lekkerimaki to get the help they need and this thread is further proof.

Do you think those two acquisitions would help you make the playoffs?

That's not a question I feel like I can answer because in the case of Tavares and Knies I have no idea.

I know Tavares will get less because there is no shot he gets 11 million again but how much less?

Will there be deferred money like there is in a few contracts around the league including McCabe's deal?

Knies I'll guess he gets a bridge at around 6X4

Marner? Who knows?
