I may very well regret saying this but this feels like the least scary version of the Hurricanes in recent memory. Burns is a liability and their defense doesn’t feel as overwhelming and deep this year and they’re worse in their top six without Necas. Still a fast, deep, and relentless team but they don’t look or feel like the buzzsaw they’ve been in recent years.

It's a woodchipper from here on out. They're going to need to tighten it up further defensively to handle deeper, more physical and mature teams. And also continue to amp up their support, composure and playmaking 5v5.

Chychrun & Sandin are big keys They've got to manage defensive situations better, be more stout and then pitch in up the ice. RBA has really balanced out Carolina's lines and if the Caps are lazy/ineffective combating cycles they're going to get blenderized defensively. Strome seems to be heating up. Can he help tip the scales? Protas looked good in a limited G5 role. They'll need more. McMichael also seems poised to be a factor. I like a lot of what Leonard is doing and eventually he'll break out...but can he quickly gain the handles and strength to cut through? Should be full tilt going forward in any event.

Andersen's health will be a huge factor too.
