Caps Top Prospects Poll 1

Going by who would contribute the most overall if thrown in the lineup tonight, its Leonard IMO. Complete upside if all goes well, it would probably be a Hutson/Miro/Cristall

I went Hutson also. (I believe all FIVE of us have checked in!) I think Leonard is a lineup lock and potentially a star, but Hutson seems like he's got more than a puncher's chance to be a superstar. He looks like he's playing a different game than everyone else -- and not in a 6'5" monster playing among boys way.

Hutson. Everyone who voted for Leonard did so because they felt he's a slam dunk NHL player in the near future and that I understand. If you think he has the highest ceiling...well I'm sorry, that seems a bit delusional.
Leonard will impact the game in all 3 zones and all situations ES, PK, PP. Hutson appears to be dynamic but will not be a PK fixture. I look at his brothers impact with the Habs and see a player that may not have the same impact to all portions of the game. For those reasons it's pretty easy for me to rank Leonard over Hutson.

From an NHLe perspective Cole's numbers are better than Lane's. In fact Cole's numbers are extremely similar to Quinn Hughes at the same point in their careers.

Not saying Cole is necessarily going to become the next Quinn Hughes, but it's at least a very reasonable outcome given his production to date. Hard not to rank that type of production anything but #1.

The poll asks for ”top prospect”. If you think that’s ultimately Hutson, you don’t need to “explain” yourself while simultaneously insulting everyone that didn’t agree with you about Leonard.

If “highest ceiling” is your only measuring stick, good for you buddy. I’ll have Hutson at 2.

Edit: I see this was already addressed so moving on.

Let me rephrase my point: if the player has the highest ceiling while already showing the game breaking ability against the guys 1-2-3 years older than him, he's just a better prospect than somebody who doesn't have that ability or hasn't shown one. It's one thing to be a good two way player, have a likeable character and throw your weight around and it's another to have that "it" factor about your game when you're just that dangerous offensively.

Hutson is a game breaker. Leonard is just very good. That's the difference to me.

Voted Cristall. I understand the arguments for Hutson as well, but Cristall combined that upside and analytics appeal with showing that he's very close with his NHL pre-season this year (I still think he should have got a 10 game audition). Hutson is having one hell of a season (and WJC) though.

Leonard seems like such a well-rounded and NHL-ready player already. He can score, pass, forecheck, backcheck, etc.

I see people saying he doesn't have as high of a ceiling, but I don't get why. He'll grow and improve as Cristall and Hutson should.

If Leonard scored on that overtime breakaway in the World Junior gold medal game would people be saying different things? Leonard has shown elite skills and gamebreaker abilities, just like the other two.
