I think the "goalie of the future" stuff is overrated and that management probably feels the same way, especially after being burned by Samsonov and Vanecek so badly.
While we have a nice volume of D they're all in the complementary puck-moving mold. There isn't anyone who has the ceiling of a real 1 or 2 on a good team.
I know a lot of people will say Hutson and while I like him a lot I think he's still a big risk -- look how much his brother has struggled this year. Obviously it's easier said than done to get one of those guys but I would lean offensive D in the first round this year.
Also with McMichael and Protas looking like wings long-term and Lappy graduating out of "prospect" status and struggling I wouldn't mind a center too.
Of course none of this will matter when we trade our first for Marchand at the deadline
