Bjorkstrand seems like a realistic target: rumoured to be available and I think would fit our system very well.

Also, for everyone worried about blocky Lenny, he only has 1 more year after this, which is perfect timing imo.
I'm not worried about actually blocking Lenny. I'm worried about Lenny thinking he's blocked and reconsidering signing.

I really liked the Eller move earlier this season. Then it looked bad. Last 8-10 games he has looked a lot better and scoring the last couple. I think he looks more like what we traded for and he will be fine.

I’d move McMichael for someone with term. Really the two I’d consider are Bjorkstran and Tuck. Not sure either will really be available. Both are right handed shots but that shouldn’t scare Leonard off. He likes to compete. And we play a lot of off hands at forward.

Yeah Bjorkstrand, Wilson, and Leonard could really be interchangeable as RW’s in the top 9 next season.

Ovechkin-Strome-Wilson
Protas-Dubois-Leonard
Cristall-McMichael-Bjorkstrand
Duhaime-XXX-Miroschnichenko

As a rough outline. There’s room for another top 6/9 RW.

It's a forward group that could do some damage. Certainly not a top tier group, but adding a top 6 forward and pushing McMichael down to the third line could allow the third line to take slightly more and slightly tougher minutes which I think would benefit Ovechkin and Strome who aren't really capable of matching thr opposition's best.

Those are definitely real concerns, and I like Bjorkstrand, too. Doesn't solve the Eller problem. That line might be able to eat minutes responsibly, but McMichael's offense would vanish there. I agree Bjorky helps tip the ice in the right ways, but he's not a finisher and it's hard to score in the playoffs. That move makes us a better 200ft team if McMichael can impact the 3rd the way you think, but it'd be nice if they could also score. Eller's wing is where offense goes to die.

Lenny isn't signed yet, and until his John Hancock is on the paperwork, we don't want to do anything to give him the idea that he's being passed over or blocked or whatever.

I hate that rule for NCAA players, and I get the concern, but I really don't see that happening. And if he has that bent, I doubt it'll be over acquiring a TDL wing to shore things up for a Cup run. He'd have to have a pretty set idea of where he wants to end up, and *that* is what would be motivating him. So if he's determined to play for Boston, for example, he can do that regardless. The only real risk is to his reputation.

Seems very unlikely though for lotsa reasons, and I wouldn't alter my plans to build a winner this year by 1% on the off chance that some kid might hold us hostage over it.

But if you think that might tip him to do it and want to avoid it, I have an idea! We could keep the wings we have and trade for a 3C instead! 😜

I am definitely in the Camp of win another cup in next two years. Has nothing to do with record. But OV is a difference maker at 39/40. And yes I want to win another cup with/for OV. And we are right on the doorstep. Two year window. Plenty of cupboard and youngsters when he is gone. And let’s not forget the club who is Carberry and i think he only has two years left as well on this deal.

We don’t need another Dee. We don’t need a bottom 6 forward or center. But a true top 6 with one more year I like a lot. And we may have to give up a talent to get that. The top value pieces i would move for right value coming back: McMichael, 2025 First, Frank, Mangiapane. I don’t think any of those guys leaving hurts the room.
