First off, he's got three points in his last three games. Second, you're moving the goalpost from points to goals here.

I'll bet you the goals start going in for CMM though. He's been getting better looks lately, and he's just holding his stick a bit too tight. I won't be surprised if he puts up five goals in the next ten games because he's just coming out of his mid season slump.
Oh please do tell….overall production matters. Does me pointing out him scoring 4 goals since Dec bother you? Truth hurts. Goalposts unmoved.

You don’t need to bet me, we’re all hoping he produces.

I think Mike's been a valuable player this year for the Caps, especially considering the contract he has. No desire to trade him at this deadline. Although, if he doesn't show any scoring consistency for the remainder of this season + playoffs, I would trade him in the offseason for a quality 3C or top D. For next season, one of Leonard/Miro should get top 6 winger minutes in his stead.

You stopped talking about points when told he's scoring points instead claiming goals are the measure of a slump. That's the definition of moving the goalposts.

But don't let reality hold back your posts.

Nobody said give McMichael away for free. He is a good player. On a fantastic cap hit. It is going to have to be the right deal for the Caps because we don’t NEED to move him. but he probably has the most value of any player we might trade. As i have said before, you have to give to get. With all the prospects we have I’m willing to give on McMichael. 4 years ago i would not have been willing because we had no pool. Now we do.

As noted CMM has 6 points in last 7 games. Or something like that. So yeah, scoring slump is over. Goal scoring slump still TBD despite goal tonight.

He is a good player. Only replacing him with a legit top 6 borderline top line. Otherwise we keep him. People need to pay for that. But we are willing to deal value for value.

Chychrun price tag dropping by the day.
If you are playing that game price just went up. I still think we go 8 years. Fine with that. I want 8M. Maybe stretch to 8.5M with Cap going up. We need to adjust but we don’t need to get crazy. We have more leverage that Chchyrun.

He's got 8 points in 9 games now, and he's got 2 goals in his last 4 games. Hell, he's inside the top 80 forwards in the league for points and top 60 for goals. He is that borderline first line player you're looking for.

Yeah. So he is good value to trade. If he stays i am happy. I trust Caps FO to be smart. They aren’t going to give him away.

"Consistency" is overrated. Every player has peaks and valleys over the course of the season. The only players who don't experience "slumps" like McMichael's are all-stars. Using Monthly stats as a quick shorthand, CMM's worst month was December, with 2G and 6P (13GP). That same month was Dylan Strome's 3G and 6P month (same 13GP). Jason Robertson had a 1G/7P (13GP) November. Matt Boldy had a 2G and 7P (14GP) December. Brady Tkachuk had a 3G/4P (15GP) January. Hell, Tom Wilson had back-to-back 3 point months last season. The ebbs and flows of a season happen to players. You don't trade quality players away simply because they the puck stops going in for a bit, or else you'd be stuck with very few players on your team. You *especially* don't trade them for 3rd liner centers based on the hope that a younger prospect will somehow be more consistent.

Good win tonight. I would still trade for a true top 6/top line guy. Pick first. Prospect second. McMicahel third. Depends on value coming back. I’d also be fine with this lineup with Vrana, Leonard, Miro, and Lappy ready. Plenty of Dee. Nervous at 3G but OK.

RIP Milano?
