I’d be happy to see Frank at 3x3 but my expectations are low. he doesn’t move great without the puck but his shot is great and he is fast enough to get back on Dee. Let’s try it.

Goddamn, I like Frank but he's only played a handful of NHL games and you want to pay him $3million for several years? That's insane

Edit: just realizing you meant 3v3, not 3x3 lol

Yes, i meant 3 on 3 OT. Thanks all for jumping in.

New rumor about Caps being one of three teams interested in Bruins Trent Fredrick. I don’t know about him as a player driver but he is 26, 6’3 220. Listed as a center but currently playing 3LW and 2.3M (same as Eller). hasn’t had a 20 goal year yet but 18 and 17 the previous 2. And he has some nasty to him so I’d be interested.

For several years, Caps fans complained about the FO cheaping out on minimum wage goalies and suffering the results. Now today we are leading the entire NHL in team GAA, and people want to cheap out on the backup goalie, and go back to what, another minimum wage guy? For what its worth, Charlie's GAA with the Caps had dropped from 3.05 to 2.67 to 2.61 in his three seasons here.

$4M may be a bit high, but he's earned and deserves a decent, not minimum wage contract. And we need a quality backup goalie. I trust the FO to get it right.
4M for a guy with a negative EV GSAX over a three year span because you’re too nostalgic (over nothing btw, lindgren won nothing) to move on is how we stay mediocre forever.

4M for Lindgren feels like a little too much.

If you have no starter or you’ve got a young goalie you’re waiting for, it would make sense. But we’ve got our starter, no need to overpay the backup.

rather pay the price and see if Marchand wants to come here ... Fredrick is a 4th liner playing on a bad team ... do we need more heavy and snarl ?

Not opposed to Frederic especially if the price is lower but Frank's success makes someone in the Frederic/Tanev/Gourde mold feel like less of an immediate need. Will also say that the rumors are an aggregation and re-reporting of Pagnotta, who himself basically aggregates and re-reports other people's stuff. Wouldn't put too much stock into it.

Oliver Bjorkstrand was mentioned on Frank Seravalli's trade board, and if he's available that's one of the few names that I like. He's a true top 6 winger and not some third line dude with no ability to play up.
Totally agree. I was thinking the other day I'd love to get him but I just assumed he wasn't available.

We don’t have any bottom 6 snarl. maybe Dowd. But not Duhaime, mangiapane, Frank, Eller, or Raddysh. Problem is, I wouldn’t want to push Frank out of the lineup for him. I wouldn’t rather push out Mangiapane and get a better player. But it is interesting.

That would be interesting except he is a RW (right shot). I think we need help on the left side. But yeah, he could push McMicahel down and play on second line with Wilson on first. Protas playing 2LW and McMichael moving to 3LW with Eller and Frank.

Duhaime doesn’t have snarl? Eller and Raddysh are not easy to play against.

The other 2 are pretty soft

I mean a bit of snarl. About as much as Hagelin. If he ever fights he just gets the beat down.

All that said, I don’t think he is the right guy to add. Basically need to upgrade Mangiapane. I prefer to spend on a 25-30 goal guy.

I don’t think Carbs has figured out Mangie yet. Or vice versa.

In Calgary, Mangie was a fiesty “20 goal” scorer (with that one 35g season), and yet here he seems marginalized.

Why?

He may need top 6 minutes to score like he used to. But he isn’t seemingly earning top 6 min.

But the TOTALLY bizarre part, is that’s he’s earned that trusted slot w Dowd. I mean…..

That’s a thing

Re: Duhaime — he’s got a lot more push than Hags did. Duhaime is happy to fight. Hags wasn’t as much. He’s more a Bradley or a Chimera, ONLY in regards to fisticuffs.

What the hell?

Hagelin basically never really fought or even threw hits. Duhaime has several fights this season and they are mostly wins. He's small so not really a heavyweight but that's not really his game anyway, really good fighter still.

I don't like the fit with Frederic. He doesn't create anything by himself so he's not really the answer to the 3rd line. He's not really any tougher than Duhaime, either. I'm pretty sure they've fought before and Duhaime beat him.

Marchand would be a great add for the right price but doubt Bruins would move him to a team that they might face early in the Playoffs.

Yeah, lol. Duhaime is grit.

This year 5 fights. 3 clearcut wins.
44 career fights.
Hits hard, drives to the net.

Comparing him to 2 career fights (in 500 more games than Duhaime has yet played) Carl Hagelin is pretty weird. Hags wasnt even a hitter, he was just a fast skater and backchecker.

Duhaime isnt a rat like Hathaway, but he is double doze of "hard to play against" comparing to him. I loved it when we signed him and havent been disappointed. He is just tough, plays the game the "right way".
