Last night's game was great, Wilson coming back after a puck to the face and I'm glad Dubois is paying off. Found this on Twitter, i think Caps won this trade

Not all trades have to be won and lost, I think both sides are very happy at this point. Both teams had a player that didn’t work out for them and swapped, and both players look much better with their new teams. PLD is certainly the player with the higher upside, but that’s balanced with him having the much bigger and larger, thus more risky, contract.

Although it is nice that after trading Kuemper for a legit 1/2 C we were like, “I guess we need a goalie, let’s get this Logan Thompson guy”

Not that I think we are cup favourites or anything but Polymarket has us as the team with the 13th best chance off winning the cup at 4%. Carolina, Oilers, Stars the favourites at 10% each.

I think putting down a few bucks for the Caps to win at 25:1 isn't too bad of a gamble.

We haven't won anything yet, but given the current standings and what the eye test shows, are all the people who did nothing but shitpost against the front office all last year and the entire offseason reconsidering their approach going forward??

When this team loses 4-5 games in a row, will the "DOOM! FIRE EVERYONE" hats come back out of the closet?

I don't remember a smoother 1st 25gms+ to start a season (outside of OV's injury obv)

Losing 2 in a row only once, insane GF, G diff, PK, PP last dozen, depth, D corps, O from D, Pro+McMic, balanced scoring... damn!

Adversity's going to come at some point, curious how everyone deals when we lose 3, and/or get hit with injuries

The list of complaints are pretty minor:
- Dubois should have a cpl more goals
- Lapi (tho' improving lately) has struggled a lot
- Lindgren hasn't shown much of last year's numbers

it's a stretch to come up with much more legit to complain about

Whereas the Caps squeaked into the playoffs last season, I thought these offseason moves would have been enough to put them pretty comfortably into the wild card hunt.

None of us knew the young-ins were going to blossom, Strome was going to play like a Hart candidate, Ovie was going to score goals like it's 2009, and Chychrun was going to be playing like a Norris winner.

The front office just hit on everything. It's a straight flush. That's not normal!

I was critical before when he passed instead of shooting at the empty-net and Caps lost that one game but to his credit it's a form of art when late in the game he just goes to a corner and locks the puck for a good 15-20 seconds before the 4th opposing player finally comes in and they finally get the puck dug out.

Protas is the perfect example of the conversations we used to have here about Mantha being a big guy that didn't leverage his size. Mantha filled out late, was always tall but rail-thin as a young player. So he was good at being long and rangy, but everything else about being big was lost on him.

Protas is in total possession of his size. He stretches those limbs out, skates apart, to keep opponents at bay. He has full force in his reach, doesn't lumber in his stride, and has some thump to his game. The way he and McMike have blossomed this year is almost 100% maturity. It's like they woke up the morning of Game 1 and said, "f*** it, let's just be veterans now."

Big fan of how he's playing.

No, they will continue to hibernate until there's something to bitch about, gloss over the improvement like it's a months-long fluke, and blame the front office for not acquiring whatever flashy toy becomes available around that time.

And we'll get to call them nitwits, point out how the FO turned the club around in a little more than a year and in every phase of the game, and bag on the clubs in similar situations that completely shit the bed, especially the Pens.

And then they'll say, "BAH! Crosby got 3 Cups and we were lucky to win 1!"

And we'll jump up and down on them for saying traitorous shit and go back and forth like that until you tell us that you're sick of it and that we're all being stupid.

It's the Circle of Life, Simba!

@g00n has forgotten how the forum works! Someone put him in concussion protocol, STAT!
