Speculation of a guy doing well in a position he doesn't play at this level is just that....a gamble.

The other guys are young and developing. When their games can handle it, they will get increase roles and time.

I guess I don't buy that they're too young to handle an increased role. Mantha is 28. Ride him while he's hot. McMichael and Protas are almost 23, which generally marks the beginning of a player's prime. I don't buy that these players can't handle more than 14-16 minutes a night, which is what they have been getting of late. These aren't undersized physically undeveloped players. These are established NHLers at this point. Play them more.

I said they are young and developing....I didn't say they were too young. The coach has determined your suggestions are not viable, so far....so we just work through the process until they improve themselves and get better (which they are)....

BTW according to the fancy stats report card, those two were getting caved in quite a bit last game....so what....load em up with more ice time?

///...

I just find it troubling that over the past 15 games Nic Dowd and NAK have gotten more 5v5 ice time than all of Mantha, McMichael, and Protas. Malenstyn has basically the same TOI. Perhaps if they struggle to score goals they should consider increasing the ice time of the line that does score goals and decreasing the ice time of the 4th line that doesn't score goals.

One big part of hockey is scoring more goals than the other team
BUT
An equally big part of hockey is keeping the other team from scoring more goals than your team (maybe that's not covered in Fancy Stats 101)

That's where the 4th line comes in and why they're getting the minutes they are... I'd gamble they've earned us quite a bit more points in the standings than have cost us and can only imagine the constant whine of the Doomers here if we were any furthur down the standings

Whoops, for some reason I thought player cards were open to the public.

Anyways here are a bunch. I'm sure there will be perfectly reasonable reactions!

Let me know if I missed anyone. Lapierre and Miroshnichenko don't meet the GP cutoff otherwise I'd include them.

McMichael and Carlson being that awful don't feel like they entirely jive with reality, but most of those seem close. I think it underrates Ovi a bit too. He's not been good, but after his shit start I feel like he's been extremely unlucky.

Kuznetsov needs to go away already. Putting Pacioretty with him, presumably by default, is a recipe for failure. I'm not a big believer in Lapierre either just yet so given their increasing winger depth here soon I'd definitely try Protas at center instead.

Reactions: um
Frank is bigger, stronger, better in his own zone and just as good of a goal scorer. He's also been in the system a year longer. He gets the call up before Dube. Shiney new ball.
Leading the league in goals. Give him a cup of coffee..certainly can’t hurt.

I hope BMac and mgmt make a decision in the near future on whether they are going to really try to make the playoffs or write off the season. Finishing just outside of the playoffs seems like the worst possible outcome.

Frank sits 5th this year(3 off Dube) and finish the season 7th overall in goal scoring last year. Cup of coffee should be his. We always talk about people "earning it". Frank has earned it. I mean Matthew Phillips missed the goal championship last season by 1 goal. :naughty:
