Jesus when you get behind something….you go all in…..he better be putting up 55pts and playing great D.
55 points and playing great D is getting much more then 6 million now a days. That's like 8 million level money when guys like Dahlin and Makar are making 10 plus.

Orlov topped out at 36 points in a season. 55 is a wild expectation for $6 million.

Orlov was a disappointment offensively in terms of output (because he wasn’t utilized here that way)….stop backpedaling and believe in your boy!

He's not getting anywhere close to 55.
I pass at $8 mil per, not of he’s doesn’t get 55 points lol….and I certainly don’t expect it until he matures his game….so the offer of 8 x 6 is wildly overpaying for now….

The main thing that would make me pause at the PP1 heir apparent notion is he's not really a goal-scorer.

WTF! I know you had to pay to watch tonight's game but for some reason I can't even post on the GDT! Don't tell me HFBoards has gotten on the band wagon and now requires payment before posting. :tvhappy:

PO'd that I couldn't watch the game, but seeing the score I suppose I should thank ESPN+

I think the defensive zone coverage is going to be a concern for a while to come - and I suspect they’re a couple of quality defenders away from being a serious contender even if the other problems magically went away.

I also hope that they’ll be smart enough to try Strome with Ovi soon, given how strong they were together for significant stretches of last year. Something like this would potentially be better:

Ovi-Strome-Wilson
Milano/Philips-Kuzy-Oshie
CMM-Backstrom-Milano/Philips
Protas-Dowd-Malenstyn

Another area of concern is the powerplay, where they desperately need another Mojo-type player who can actually get the puck into the zone and screen the goalie. Kuzy just isn’t that guy, and I’m not sure who else they have on the roster who can enter with possession smoothly each time. This team is too slow to dump and chase.

For all the overreaction talk, trading Carlson after one game takes the cake. Show a little poise…Jesus…
He has 2 more seasons left until free agency. He almost certainly won’t be on the team for us another contract. If we stink what’s the point of keeping him?

Many wanted him traded when his value was much higher years ago.

I'm all fairness I've wanted him traded for a couple seasons now. This is just a continuation lol...He puts up a ton of points and can QB a PP but he's just lazy in his own zone and shows none of the qualities that an assistant captain should on the ice (effort, heart, drive). He's lost so many steps he's a liability out there in his own zone and doesn't seem to care either. He's basically Mike Green in his final couple seasons in DC before he walked as a UFA. We've got nothing better so they keep throwing him out there to drive there offense but Carlson is at a point in his career he should be playing sheltered minutes and getting mostly o zone starts.

Well if your goal is to tank the season, piss off Ovechkin and the fan base (when they fall apart), you trade Carlson.

We saw what happened without him last year. It would be more of the same.

Defensively suspect team? Had to expect that obviously.

I say let 8-19-77 play a couple more games and then never go back to it. Miracle didnt happen.

When your total age on your line is over 100, it's bound to suck. I just don't get the coaches vision or even expectations from a line that has no legs, no stamina, no explosiveness. Yes, they were a great line, but those times are gone.

COLBY COHEN: T.J. Oshie stands out to me as a player who will find a new team at the trade deadline or this coming summer. While he has a M-NTC with a 10-team list, the fact that he has only one year left on his contract after this season, priced at a reasonable $5.75 million, makes him an enticing option. Oshie’s scoring ability, effectiveness on the power play and tenacious 200-foot game give him the ability to fetch a nice return.

His winning experience with a Cup and consistent leadership qualities in the dressing room further elevate his value. Considering these factors, there’s a distinct possibility a contender would be willing overpay for Oshie’s services at the trade deadline or the draft.

I could see it. If we're lottery bound again and he stays healthy he could bring a kings ransom from a contender. He's the ultimate playoff style player when healthy.

They'd have to retain on Oshie I'd imagine. Contenders aren't going to have much space to be able to add a contract like Oshie without retention or a bad contract going the other way.

I'm not against the idea of course but I don't think WSH would get much in return.

Tarasenko went for a 1st thats a solid Oshie comp. I could see the Devils wanting a player like Oshie

They more or less already got it with Toffoli.

I don't know what sort of 200 ft. player Oshie really is with his skating these days, although with more pace around him I'm sure it would be better mitigated. I would look more at teams with bad PPs that would need him in a similar bumper role.

If the Caps do stink they're going to need to do more than just letting Mantha go. If it takes retention to move on from Kuznetsov or Oshie then so be it. They also might think about Jensen or TVR with Iorio close. IF IF but...yeah.
