That's a plan I can get behind.Fehervary to Hawaii for 3 weeks so we can showcase Jensen, TvR and Edmundson.
I get TVR moving to left because they can pair him with Carlson and let Sandin-Jensen pair stay in tact. Edmundson-Bear have played plenty together as well.
But damn, I want to see Alexyev play. From what i understand AA is very well liked, positive attitude, and always has a smile on his face. But Caps just don’t seem to interested in having a young 6’4 defensemen develop on the ice. I don’t think he has looked bad.
Two coaches in a row….very weird….I get TVR moving to left because they can pair him with Carlson and let Sandin-Jensen pair stay in tact. Edmundson-Bear have played plenty together as well.

Hurt….week to week….Yotes are desperate for solid blueliner. They also need to shake up their core very badly. 10 game losing streak. I’m looking to see if any team in need of goals would be interested in Schmaltz. From the Caps, the name that jumped out at me is Fehervary.
I'm one of those who's open to the idea of trading Fehervary (some are very opposed), but he's currently out "week to week" with a lower body injury. So he's not going to be back before the deadline. I'd also like something a bit younger than Schmaltz as the centerpiece of the return. If the Caps trade Fehervary, its not to get older (not that Schmaltz at 27 is old, but he's older than Fehervary at 24).Yotes are desperate for solid blueliner. That’s ok with me. We’re not making the playoffs anyway.Hurt….week to week….
Am I the only one that absolutely does not like the screaming eagle jersey? If only the team realized that...
God, I'm still so salty about the retros. How do we not have a modern white flying eagle jersey to buy.
Nope….but I'd say least favorite instead of dislike….Am I the only one that absolutely does not like the screaming eagle jersey?
If my memory is correct Eminger had a solid second half of the season and looked ok in the playoffs that somehow convinced the Flyers to trade for him. Everyone should remember that pick turned out to be John Carlson.I'm one of those who's open to the idea of trading Fehervary (some are very opposed), but he's currently out "week to week" with a lower body injury. Might be worth revisiting around the draft. Eons ago the Capitals traded a (then) 25 year old Steve Eminger (plus a 3rd) for a 1st at the draft, and that type of deal is likely the simplest one to model a Fehervary deal around.
Hopefully the Dowd injury isn't too bad and he can still be moved at the deadline. Dowd and Lindgren are the two assets that are likely peaking in value, and should be moved now as opposed to later. I suppose they could also move Dowd around the draft (with retention) for a decent haul, but it would likely be more at this point when teams get him for an extra playoff run.Dowd injury + staying somewhat close to the Playoffs hunt likely makes it another boring trade deadline for us. GMBM isn't stupid, he'll likely move the expiring contracts that waive their no-trade clauses and aren't staying here beyond this season, but moving Edmundson/Pacioretty/Mantha, while good, isn't going to make this a very exciting deadline. Keeping all of Jensen, TvR, Oshie and guys like that point towards trying to make the Playoffs again next season.
He (Oshie) is technically tradable (10 team no trade list), but I would not trade him unless he is 100% on board with it. He's earned that in my book.Hopefully the Dowd injury isn't too bad and he can still be moved at the deadline. Oshie should be held onto, simply because the situation that makes the most sense to move him is next year's deadline. Given his injury history, I can't imagine him singing another long-term deal. He's either retiring after his current contract or doing 1-year deals. So dealing him away as a short-term rental to let him chase a championship for the last 30ish games of a season + playoffs seems like a win-win. It will be a lot easier for contenders to fit his salary (and injury risk) on a short term rental basis than trying to move a full season of his $5.75M cap hit.
TvR and Jensen are awkward to move at this point because they both just signed new contracts starting this season. Nor do I really want to jump at selling them for 75 cents on the dollar.
If there's takers for guys like Milano or Bear - go for it. But I doubt there's much market for them.
