Prospect Info: Caps Prospects General Discussion Thread - 2024-25

Carlson wasn't 5-11 and 165 pounds. Positive note is Hutson looked comfortable on the right side too. I love the kid as a prospect, I just don't get the rush.
He's around 175 now. Started the season at BU weighing in at 171 and has worked on adding weight. Wouldn't be surprised to see him nearing 180 by start of the next season. I'm not worried about his size, just additional time for pure developmental purposes. He should spend another year in the NCAA but not because he isn't big enough. Here's three of the most dynamic offensive D in the NHL. The game has changed, we can't hyper focus on size anymore.

Makar: 5'11 183
Hughes: 5'10 181
L. Hutson: 5'9 162

If Cole says he wants to sign a pro deal, then Caps do it and let his play dictate from there. But i don’t think Cole will force a contract. And Caps will likely encourage Cole to go back to BU for a second year. The two year NCAA development plan is good.

And this plays back into my opinion that the caps should resign Alexeyev for two years. Maybe 1.2M to 1.5M. When Cole comes out you likely trade Sandin or Fever and if Cole can’t take down a top 6 Alexeyev is there.

Caps should try to sign Quinn. Just for the bloodlines / hell of it / to make Cole more comfortable when he comes out.
i mean, signing Quinn Hutson (23+27 in 36gp, NCAA) and John Leonard (30+23 in 63gp, AHL) for next year plus maybe having Matt Strome and Ilya Protas in Hershey would be some serious 3D-chess and probably bring a lot of synergy into the organization!
