Prospect Info: Caps Prospects General Discussion Thread - 2024-25

Half and half. The skill and talent are already there. I think he only needs a year in the A to bulk and adjust to the physicality of the pro game, then will be full-time NHL-ready by ‘26-‘27.
His brother stayed for 2(so did Makar), BU has a great young team with a great goalie who's probably coming back, and he needs to bulk up and get stronger which is much easier to do in college than in the AHL. He's definitely ready offensively, but the Caps love to let their prospects overcook..

Valid points I can’t argue with any of that! Less games and more time to be in the gym than in the pro game. I’m sure the Caps will make the right call on him - obviously depending on what he wants to do too. Hell, BMac said last year Leonard was pro-ready the training camp shortly after his draft haha.

Play in Hershey most next season

Yeah, I get that any of the NCAA guys not signing causes a little panic, but I don't think it's anything to worry about. You gotta be a me-first shithead to assess a team by looking for the path of least resistance. Our left side is stacked right now and we're already talking about who we'll deal when Hutson's time comes.

That's how it should be approached. Make yourself undeniable. If Chesley wants to sniff out greener pastures because he doesn't think a top NHL team is just going to anoint him outright, f*** him. Sack up, play your best hockey, and if it's enough to earn the spot you want, it's yours.

I think most guys know that and want to pave their own road. And the ones that don't? Seriously, I could do without that type of asshole. I hate that NCAA rule, and I'll always look sideways at the handful of nitwits that took advantage of it.

That first shift of OT is why Hutson needs another year, he tried a finesse stick check and lost the board battle, which let the Cornell player pass out front for a grade A scoring chance. You can't do that in pro hockey, and he will learn how to defend better with more games at BU.

Caps should try to sign Quinn. Just for the bloodlines / hell of it / to make Cole more comfortable when he comes out.
They should sign him because he's a good player but I think unfortunately he'll have better opportunities elsewhere.

Great game from Lane today. I really do not have any opinion on him staying another year vs. turning pro, either option is perfectly fine for him
