Some additional NCAA prospect notes:
Chase Clark and AIC start their conference tournament today as the 8th seed. They play top seed Holy Cross in a best of 3. It is likely that Clark's season ends this weekend, which would be the completion of his 3rd year playing NCAA hockey. I don't think he's good enough to sign, given the number of goalies the org is already juggling in Hershey and SC, but I guess you never know what can happen.
Joaquim Lemay and Northeastern start their conference tournament next Wednesday (the 12th). They are currently the 9th seed and likely to play Merrimack as the 8th seed in a single elimination game. It's possible that Lemay's season ends on Wednesday as Northeastern isn't good enough to make the full NCAA tournament unless they win the conference. This is the completion of his 3rd year playing NCAA hockey.
The Big Ten tournament starts today, with Notre Dame (Nicholas Kempf) as the 7th seed playing Minnesota (Chesley) as the 2nd seed in a best of 3. It's likely that Kempf's season ends this weekend. This is the completion of Kempf's 1st year playing NCAA hockey. Minnesota is ranked 3rd in the country per USCHO, so are assured of a spot in the full NCAA tournament no matter how their conference tournament goes.
Also playing in the Big Ten tournament with games starting today is Ohio State (Brent Johnson) as the 3rd seed playing Wisconsin as the 6th seed. Again, it's a best of 3. Ohio State is ranked 9th overall by USCHO, so they stand a good chance of getting an NCAA tournament bid even if they don't win the Big Ten.
Michigan State, with David Gucciardi, is the top seed in the Big Ten, and received a bye to the single elimination semifinals. They're second in the country per USCHO, so are assured of a spot in the full tournament. This is the completion of Gucciardi's 4th year playing NCAA.
BC (Leonard) and BU (Hutson) are currently the numbers 1 and 3 teams in Hockey East rankings, and will likely get byes to the quarterfinal games, starting next Saturday, March 15. Both teams would likely get bids in the full NCAA tournament regardless of how their conference championships end.
The NCAA tournament selections are on Sunday, March 23. Four regional tournaments with single elimination games run from March 27 through 30. And the Frozen Four will occur April 10 through 12.
