He was quoted as saying DWGie26 has to learn to spell his name before he signs here…Hudson is soooo smooth. I mean, could the Caps convince him to turn pro? They might have to move Fever in offseason.
I tried to make it quick. Caught me! HahaHe was quoted as saying DWGie26 has to learn to spell his name before he signs here…(nice correction!)
I'd rather he refine his game, bulk up for a 2nd year at college, and then hit the NHL like his older brother/Hughes/Makar did.Imagine him and Leonard inserted next season…

Cristall - X - Leonard on the other hand I would love to see next year.
They also haven’t had a talent on D worth rushing since Carlson at 20.I think Hutson returns to BU but if they go Cinderella now and take Hockey East and the Natty there won't be much to return for. Yegorov gives them that chance IMO. Neither may be at BU long at this rate. That said, as dynamic and active as Hutson likes to be there should be an anticipated period of adjustment going up against grown ass men defensively. He won't be afforded the luxury of switching off now and then, nor the ability to so often stay so far forward at that.
I wonder if the idea of extending Chychrun changes somewhat with the season Hutson is having...especially since they have yet to add any real PK role for #6. He's much bigger and more stout, of course, but it at least gives them a degree of leverage should talks not progress.
Rushing him isn't their style so the spring of '26 seems like the earliest but who knows? If he and BU crushes the rest of the season he and they may need to at least think about signing and taking the next step.
I think Hutson returns. He's actually been having a worse season than Lane had, and Lane returned. (Although, he's really turned it on since WJC so he could end up with comparable numbers.)I think Hutson returns to BU but if they go Cinderella now and take Hockey East and the Natty there won't be much to return for. Yeah, my comment was a bit tongue in cheek but certainly a possibility. I would like to see Hutson play another year of college as well. I don’t think he is an AHL guy… straight to NHL for playoffs 2026 as @CapitalsCupReality mentioned.I think Hutson returns to BU but if they go Cinderella now and take Hockey East and the Natty there won't be much to return for. Not sure Fever should be let go. He is our most used defenceman on the PK and we dont really have any other LD playing PK. Sandin has 36 min and Chychrun have 5 min. TVR plays a little on both sides on the PK.Yeah, my comment was a bit tongue in cheek but certainly a possibility. I would like to see Hutson play another year of college as well. I don’t think Hutson should impact what we do with Chychrun. I do think it impacts an extension for Fever which is why he is a candidate to move in offseason. Or the one after which he will be a RFA and someone will trade for that and the contract is theirs. Sandin and Chychrun aren’t going anywhere and Hutson will be cost controlled for three years.
Last night and during the WJC he anticipates the lead pass and takes it away from his guy as he receives it a huge % of the time, uses his stick well and is great positionallyI haven't really watched any BU this year outside of game highlights. Hutson seems to play like a 4th forward in what I've seen, from anyone who has watched him more, how is his defensive side of the game? Nothing stood out to me in the WJC, but that side of a defenseman's game is usually takes a bit longer to develop.

If Hutson is replacing him they will really be lacking a LD covering the PK. If not they need to test out how well Sandin or Chychrun can handle playing the PK. If Hutson comes up he will likely be more used on the PP which Chychrun have quite a lot of time on and Sandin aswell. So if Hutson is ready he fits more the profile of replacing Sandin. I think Hutson will be an improved Sandin with way more offensive skills if he is able to make it in NHL. So I would say testing the market for Sandin who is playing really well do sound more logical than Fehervary if Hutson makes it.
An NHL ready Hutson can do what Sandin does, but I dont think he can replace Fevers job to be the go to PK guy.
Worse how? Production-wise he seems on par if not slightly ahead of Lane’s first season.I think Hutson returns. He's actually been having a worse season than Lane had, and Lane returned. (Although, he's really turned it on since WJC so he could end up with comparable numbers.)
And I've been saying for a while, any deal the Caps sign with Chychrun has to either be very short or one they can move in a year or two.
Cole is at 1.08 p/g. Lane finished at 1.23. (If it matters, Lane has a February b-day as opposed to Cole's late June.) In fairness, Cole had a much more productive WJC.Worse how? Production-wise he seems on par if not slightly ahead of Lane’s first season.
