Prospect Info: Caps Prospects General Discussion Thread - 2024-25

With the way their last two first rounders and Cristall are tracking I wonder if they may think either defense or maybe even goaltender early next draft. They'll have amassed a lot of views and info on Ravensbergen (Parascak's teammate).

BPA always but the likes of Tretheway, Mrtka, Smith or Aitcheson would align fairly well on the back-end adding another potentially key core piece. I doubt they'd categorically not take another forward but even with the post-Ovi era fast approaching they should be able to truly stick to BPA after the last couple drafts. The 11-20 range initially seems a bit stronger on the back-end with those four options potentially.
 
Great to see, ah, “Perry” getting after it right away. Hope he stays hungry and soaks it all up this year!

Also they swapped Cristal jersey’s today meaning Vrana “lined up” as 3LW and Cristal as an extra. Hope Cristal plays on Saturday.

I was thinking the same on Ravensberg. He's tracking mid/late first now. Been a while since we've used early draft capital on a goalie. Probably about due.
 
Looking at the project 1st round right now for the 2025 NHL draft is full of meh for me. Rather wait to the half way point to see how things play out. I do like Hagens.

Yes, it's just that early on that mid-range is underwhelming for forwards I think. The forward group doesn't even look to have a deep reserve of possibilities where in time it may solidify with growth and opportunity. It could happen...but for now I'm a lot more intrigued by the secondary defense group that extends beyond those aforementioned four to others like Fiddler, Huang and Amico. It's not bereft of some forward options but, again, early on I think the blueline moreso defines it.

Schaefer, Frondell, Martone, Misa, Ryabkin, McQueen, Desnoyers, Hensler and Spence at the top along with Hagens are all blue chips IMO. That makes for a pretty solid chunk at the top and overall the potential for a quality first round. But it definitely underwhelms up front when it comes to overall depth early on.

It’s not hard. Both can be good. I will for BC when it comes down to it. Want Leonard to be rewarded for his choices. The were hard choices. Stuck to his guns. I dig that.
