Nice, but tiny sample size and conveniently tabulated after 2 goals from that line yesterday
44 mins vs. 126+145 from MTL's Tatar+Drouin lines = I'm more impressed by MTL's lines

Obviously the 3rd line has it's limitations, but a generally strong possession game should be relatively sustainable for them in that all three forwards on that line had a strong Corsi last season and overall in their careers as well. Lars has had amazing possession stats both his final season with Montreal and all but one season with the Caps. Sheary has had a plus Corsi the majority of his career. Panik has had a great Corsi over the course of his career. And the line seems to be developing some chemistry, which is promising. I don't get too excited over these stats or anything, but if we're looking at moving towards a bottom six that can pull their weight, I think the Caps are headed in the right direction in that department. I know the fourth line's Corsi is bad, but they've been given 80% + defensive zone usage and asked to take assignments that were way out of their league while others were injured and I thought played quite well overall during that time. Plus Panik is not going to stay at a 4% shooting percentage, so I am optimistic about the line.

Hey everyone, how likely is it that Samsonov see’s one of your back to back’s this weekend?

Highly likely. Hershey's next game is Saturday afternoon. If they play him there, they would have to play Anderson in one of those two games. Anderson has amazing numbers against the Rangers (5 shut outs, 1.88 GAA), but who knows if he's still the same guy. If they were to give Anderson a game, it would probably be tonight. He's 20-10-2 with a 2.36 GAA and .927 save percentage against the Sabres.

browsing thru some simple GF/GA stats leads one to draw a simple conclusion:
The team that scores more and allows less WINS! ;)
OK maybe a slightly less simple conclusion:
Play some D and keep GA to 3 or less = you're gonna win a high % of games

WSH 4 or more GA = 1-4-3
WSH 3 or less GA = 6-0-0 (1 OTW 1 SOW)

WSH 4 or more GF = 4-1-1
WSH 3 or less GF = 3-3-2

Sammy played yesterday right? And VV likely starting tonight.

Play Sammy in the early game vs NYR on Saturday and let VV have the rest until Sunday night vs NJ.

Gosh, NO. Just too much of our futures. If we are going to use those future assets, PLUS 2 of our top players (who are struggling now, I get it), I’d want more coming back. Orlov leaving isn’t the issue, but we’d need AA to replace him.

Take out AA and I’d do it.

Plus Buffalo isn’t going to do it either.

Too much. Kuzy and Orlov could be a centerpiece though. Sabres will need a number one pivot back. This helps accomplish that. Take out AA and HL. Then see where we’re are at.

Random thought I forgot to post in the GDT last night: the power play entries have been very good this year. They've been utilizing Oshie and Vrana a lot more on the right wing which has led to more clean entries. Indeed the 5v4 shot metrics seem to indicate more zone time this year than past years:

CF/60: 7th
FF/60: 2nd
SF/60: 2nd
xGF/60: 7th
GF/60: 7th

Compare that to 2018-2020:
CF/60: 17th
FF/60: 9th
SF/60: 19th
xGF/60: 12th
GF/60: 20th

They're not likely to continue converting at 32% but high 20s should be sustainable if they continue to have the type of zone time they've had at the start of the season.
