We're Touched
Apparently Dave Prior doesn’t work for Vegas anymore. Hasn’t since June 30, 2020. Full support to firing Scott Murray and bringing back Prior.
Of course there’s a chance. That’s silly to say otherwise. There isnt a chance in the world that Ovechkin signs a short term contract. He negotiated his own deal. He isnt going to want to keep repeating that process. His contract will be 5 years. 4 at the least

they could *VERY* easily chart a 5yr path and do many short contracts. They could very easily do that.
if you don’t think so, that’s your prerogative. But you also were just as sure Ovy would be signed by now because of “the media circus” that would engulf him and the team if he wasn’t. Poignantly so. And vocal about it.
that assuredness didn’t bear fruit….at all.
so let’s have at least a sliver of an open mind on this?
I don’t think so.Ovy is going to get paid this off-season. No short term deal….predicting 11.5 per. It’s incredibly risky for him to do otherwise. I give it a .0001 chance.![]()
Could see Colorado as a fit for Dillon then, although that may need to wait until after the UFA dust settles. Calgary among others could also make sense to offset in some respects what was lost in Giordano. There a few teams disappointed Jamie Oleksiak ended up in Seattle, namely Colorado. After losing a big body in Ryan Graves last week in a trade to New Jersey, I think the Avs were preparing to go after the free-agent defenceman. Instead, he came to an agreement with the Kraken. The year by year breakdown of his deal: $3.5 million, $4.25 million, $6 million, $5.5 million, $3.75 million ($4.6 million cap hit). It also includes a full no-trade in 2021-22 through 2023-24 and partial no-trade in the last two years (16-team list).
Not sure Colorado would have paid that contract to Oleksiak. They have Landeskog and Grubauer to re-sign, not sure how they fit Dillon unless Landy ends up signing elsewhere.LeBrun: With the expansion draft complete, what moves could the Kraken pull off now?

@TheLegendOfPatPeake, case in point.I swear to god GMBM...
id argue thru 2010 atleast. their defense was Mike Green and 6 AHL Dmen with theodore during that periodaka Caps fandom from 2004 through 2007
They may not have gone to $4.6M but I can see them replacing Graves with more experience at a similar price point (up to $4M perhaps) and instead going with a much cheaper UFA winger to replace Donskoi. It's very likely more of a back-burner priority after those two core type pieces but I can definitely see them targeting a Dillon type defender to round out their younger group. Not sure Colorado would have paid that contract to Oleksiak. If they’re interested, by all means shop him to them. I just don’t see how they’re going to have cap space. They may not have gone to $4.6M but I can see them replacing Graves with more experience at a similar price point (up to $4M perhaps) and instead going with a much cheaper UFA winger to replace Donskoi. No. That’s against the terms of the CBA in multiple areas.Since the Caps (most likely) have salary they have to shed, is it in their best interests to reveal the details of Ovi's contract immediately(assuming it is a done deal)?
Can/will Caps management offer Ovi a 'piece' of the Caps franchise as some form of his compensation package? His investment in the local womens soccer team in May would provide him some 'cover' in this regard...
Johnson & Francouz are already included in those figures. They have $30M right now (seems like a lot), but they only have 10 NHL players under contract. Landeskog and Grubauer are both UFAs, and combined they could eat $14M of that cap space pretty easily. Makar is an RFA due for a big raise, as well. If Erik Johnson can be activated off LTIR, that’s another $6M gone. I’m not sure they’ll have space to bring back guys like Saad, much less add on $4M D from other teams.

Assuming Ovechkin's contract is really "in the drawer" when would they announce the signing? I assume today near 1 pm?
