I don’t see Carlson and Orlov being doghouse candidates, but Vrana and Kuzy, they’ll need to show early they’ve given up their timeshare ownership in the doghouse....

I dont disagree but I am still asking what action will Lavy take that we can see? You see Kuzy getting dropped to Eller's spot? How long can that last if done?

One other thing. Vrana has been great in the regular and went missing in the last 2 playoffs. I am not inclined to see his playoff trouble showing in the regular nor being fixed by a lot of regular production. On the other hand if he is cold to start, it might well be damaged confidence and punitives against him might not be what they do.

It’s clearly reduction of ice time, benching and scratching in that order.

Why are you expecting standard discipline to be cast aside Tex? I think you’re overthinking this.

I think I am underthinking it. You dont think there would be a media circus if Kuzy got scratched? You think of Ov was taken off the pp for even a shift or two that it wouldnt be a huge distraction and national hockey news?

A lot of the punitives are easier said that done. Yea, you bench Jensen for the remainder of a period and get asked about it after. If you do that to Carlson its a much bigger deal.

I fully expect some of the “stars” to get called out and have their ice time adjusted. I don’t think it will be a public/media lashing, but def in the room and on the ice.

this team has always had a country club atmosphere stigma tied to it, save when they didn’t and won the Cup.

But I think there will be a lot more rocking of said boat than we’ve seen around here in years, and it’s needed.

you think Lavy will tolerate that crap, at all? I sure as heck don’t.

I’ll bite on this part. “Called out in the room and on the ice”......we’ve seen guys get ice time reduced in games over the years, starting at Ovy and going down. Nothing new. As far as being jumped on in the room occasionally, do we know that’s not happened here before? I’d wager anyone here 5-10 years or more has taken the coach’s ire before....

Lavy has coached Superstars successfully in the past. I don’t recall any public instance of heavy conflict with any of his top stars in the past and he coached Lindros lol...so I don’t see why he’s going to suddenly going to have to do a lot of “boat rocking”. If Kuzy and Vrana poop the bed, they will just extend their timeshare ownership in the doghouse. Nothing new.

overall I expect not so much a shift from a “country club atmosphere” (because I don’t think they’ve had that recently), but I hope we’ll see them more mentally prepared from the drop of the puck instead of their propensity to turn it on late and steal games. I expect Lavy to generate more consistent effort.

“Media circus”....no. But I don’t expect him to play that poorly either.

Ovy removed from PP? Carlson benched....Are you really expecting this much drama? I’m not.

moving guys up and down the lineup is par for the course.....earn your ice time. You don’t think Kuzy and Co. are aware (or will be) of expectations? Being “cold” and not giving an honest effort will be discernible and dealt with accordingly by a vet Head Coach.

No. I am not. I am not expecting performance issues from those guys. But Carlson and Orlov and Vrana Ov and Backstrom were brought up. Kuzy too. I get the feeling that many are expecting a lot of ass whoopin' to be going on. I think there is just only so much room for that kind of thing. If Kuzy doesnt care still, realistically what do you do?

I dont think Vrana's playoff issues were lack of effort. I could be wrong. The logical result of earn your ice is that you get dropped in the lineup and elevated with the quality of your play.

I am sure Kuzy knows there are expectations. I am confident MacLellan has made it clear he is not satisfied. Kuzy however has known this all along and it doesnt effect his behavior. My concern is that a modern NHL roster is made up of players in designed roles. Laviolette is going to have very few options to replace Kuzy's job assignments with other players. Same is true of most of the locked in players in the lineup.

Rids says he is expecting some boat rocking. I am asking what that would look like exactly?

I love that you speculate however you want and then demand that everyone else provide a detailed short-term forecast of what the future will hold, half based on a flag that you're waving harder than anyone else. Laviolette's job is to fix Kuznetsov, not replace him. If that means making Eller play above his head for a handful of games, that's what that means, and you can weigh how much you want the immediate 2 points vs. how much you want to coach your players but that's the whole answer right there.

That might cost you wins here and there, tough f***ing shit. You can't stick to your principles and compromise them every time it stands to benefit you. Literally doesn't matter which player it is, if you want the room you can't fold up like that because you think you need a guy.

1. None of us know who was called out by what coach behind closed doors. That almost never leaks out. Therefore if Lavy wants us to know a player was called out, he is going to do it in a presser himself.

2, Rocking the boat. I have specifically been a talent/performer manager. Some people response to being embarrassed or humiliated. Most dont. The fast way to lose to room is for the group not to like the way an individual player was treated. How much boat rocking are you expecting? I asked you in my previous and beyond mentioning ice time adjustment you didnt say much.

Vrana, Carlson, Orlov. What do you see as dog housing them? I see the options as pretty limited. Show me what youve got

I stated what would happen. Ice time, line juggling (= demotion), and at worst, benching.

I don’t expect benching, so I didn’t mention it originally. It’s possible. But I don’t expect it.

I think Lavy is going to light quite a few fires. I never said they would be public fires. I don’t expect that at all.

but I’d wager he will be pushing players in a way we haven’t seen in a while.

That might be true. He has a resume and a track record that suggests that. I understand about line juggling and how that can effect TOI. I get that. I only see those moves as short term. A few shifts. Maybe a game. Then I wonder to a degree with the difference will be. Rierden sat guys on the bench for a spell and moved them off their usual playing partners.

I expect we will see/not see a lot of this.

I like that decision. Give him a try out. He has been playing behind a disaster defensive core in Ottawa for years. Could maybe be a help even if it is just on the taxi squad.

Edit: Whoops, looked up the wrong Anderson, LOL. He is 39.
