GDT: caps at rongos

You know things are bad when everyone spends page after page arguing about whether a word such as 'bust' is :shakeheadappropriate or not

Luongo would have saved the first 2 goals rather easily.

It's not to late to save the season GMGM. Go out and get an elite goaltender in Louie that is somehow available, win some games, get into the playoffs on a hot streak and you never know what could happen.

I know that Ovechkin isn't the only player on the team and that he rarely shows up for these early games (like that's an excuse) but man, he really did cost us this game. Just plain horrible.

1 point out of last place in NHL
FLA & EDM are pretty awful. #3 is up for grabs, though.

The decision at the deadline should be pretty clear, as the schedule until then will grind them up and expose their poor habits. Whether they actually follow through on what's apparent is another matter. Selling would help offset the bottom line and the very likely lack of playoff revenue (to say nothing of it being the right thing to do).

Not to use it as the reason why they lost the game, but it does hurt to be missing Green, Erskine, and Orlov. That is three important piece to the defense.

NY is missing Staal. Leaves Girardi, McDonagh, Stralman, Del Zotto, Eminger, Gilroy.

A much stronger D overall than Caps Alzner, Carlson, Kundratek, Oleksy, Poti, Schultz. (Erskine Green). Not to mention having Callaghan the hitting machine pounding our D.

Kundratek and Oleksy are great AHL players. Just starting out NHL players. Poti hasn't played in two years but has been trying, Schultz God bless him, has a lot of slow twitch muscle. Leaves Alzner and Carlson as the most experienced and healthy. Carlson is trying to fill Green's skates. He's eager but I don't think as gifted. Leaving Alzner alone on the island trying to be all things D.

If you were an opposing team forward which side would you try to overpower and which Caps d would be your favorite to play against?

Lose in the 1st or 2nd round is what would probably happen and we'd end up drafting in the middle of the first round.

If there's a time to tank, it's this season.

Let's resume the talk, which one Drouin/Jones or Mackinnon.

Outshooting the Rangers. Against Biron. 1 goal.

And the funny thing is the Rangers didn't play yesterday and they don't play tomorrow but Tortorella thought so much of the Caps he gave us Biron.

While Oates must have been figuring our best chance to get 2 wins was Grubauer or Neuvirth against the Isles and Holtby against the Rangers. Seems kind of greedy to me. Play your number 1 against the lowly Isles and hope for the best against the Rangers and get at least 1 win I would think.

20/20 hindsight we would have lost them both anyway though...

Don't know if this was already pointed out, but, what the hell were the league and Leonis thinking, letting this game start at basically 1130a (time change is the only reason why it was 1230p officially) after playing a game in Long Island that got over a little bit over 13 hours before puck drop? I would assume they didn't even get to their own beds until 1a, then had to come right back out to the rink at 930a, maybe, with an hour less rest and play?
The Rangers didn't play last night (correct me if I'm wrong) and it showed, in the final result. There were other teams that could have played with NBC Sunday Afternoon (basically morning today though) game.

The Flyers had a couple of games earlier in the season where they started at 3:30 on Saturday and then 12:30 the next day. But yes both scenarios are absurd.

I say sit Ovechkin for a few games, rip that C off his jersey, and move him to the second or even third line. Or have him play out the rest of March in the AHL.

He's terrible.

What I've learned today: In the discussion of whether or not a player's a bust, referring to stats and good seasons is absolutely stupid.

Gretzky sucks.

Well,

In fairness, the "Great" one's game was never that great after the Devil's re-introduced the trap.

I'll blame this on you being unfamiliar with East Coast geography.

Yesterday's game ended at around 3:30 PM. Even if they were driving a 1960 VW bug from LI back to Virginia, they would have rolled in no later than 11:00 PM. They should have actually been back in D.C. at 8:00 PM last night if not sooner.

Losing your good buddy happens all the time. If this is the first time it has happened to him he is lucky.

I don't see AO making the HOF based on a few good scoring seasons.

AND... I don't see KISS making the HOF, either.

Adam Oates said Alex Ovechkin pulling off the potential hit on Derek Stepan wasn't the correct play there. Put him out of position on goal
