GDT: caps at rongos

Caps have better depth players than the Oilers, easily (and by that I mean, like, lines 2-4 so not just role players). What the Caps are lacking obviously is the high-end performance right now.

Having some good supporting cast is nice, but we don't go anywhere with it alone. Whoever we draft, he won't be better than Ribeiro soon, and if this team with a better roster is where it is (and if we embrace this idea), we need a rebuild.

Ovechkin will make the hall of fame regardless of what he does for the rest of his career. Unless Kolzig makes it, and I doubt he will, that would make Ovechkin the only player to make the hall primarily on the basis of what he did with this franchise.

If that's a bust I don't know what you call the rest of the team's history.

Ovechkin making the HOF means nothing to me.

Caps winning the SC means everything to me.

I believe Ovie is still brooding that his good buddy is no longer with this team.

What an incredibly irrelevant response to the question of whether or not Ovechkin is a bust.

Are you celebrating a 38 goal season from the most gifted offensive winger in several generations? 38 goals is a fraction of what he's capable of.

I'm just not calling him a bust. You need to cut back on the haterade consumption and stop using words you don't fully understand the definition of.

You're being ridiculous.

Replacing Ribeiro is mostly about getting the PP production, I think (his line isn't all that at ES). Might be easier to find, and actually probably an easier place for a rookie to produce (so if Kuznetsov comes over and fits there in 2 years...)

Good for Fehr. Surprised Callahan didn't take a dive and get him sent to the box.

Not at all, it pretty much defines who he is right now. He's interested in his individual achievements but not so much the teams.

Quite apparent that some here bank too much on a players stats rather than how that player meshes or improves the team play.

He's the culture of this team right now. :shakehead

What a phenomenal sequence by Fehr there. Great backcheck then a fluid entry into the zone.

Why haven't we seen him up with Ovie yet??

Denial at absurdum when people defend Ovechkin. He is paid to be the go to guy, the franchise-player. He is also the captain. That calls for production, leadership and workethic. He has nothing of that. To make it worse, he totaly lacks hockeysense in every face of the game.

You get a number 1 overall pick and it should automatically be at least 1 cup amirite Blue Jackets, Oilers, Islanders, Lightning, Blues, Jets, Panthers and Senators? I mean, amirite?
