On that opening goal the problem wasn't just Hughes making Trouba look really bad (which he did)....there was also the issue of the Canucks isolating Hughes against Jacob with tons of open space because the rest of our team were on the other side of the ice and it speaks to the issue of our not being ready when the puck drops. The Mika line may have had a pretty decent night offensively but they were pretty shit in our own zone on that one and Trouba just wasn't good enough to stop Hughes one on one (and he would be an issue one on one for lots of players) but if we had some presence in the middle when Hughes moved into the slot that opportunity probably doesn't happen.

Very happy to see Mika pick his game up and Kakko/Cuylle continue to elevate their games.

Think this road trip was very necessary for this group after the past few games. Don’t think it’s a coincidence that Mika has looked better on the road, but I think the same can be said for a lot of guys on this team. Just too many distractions in NY.

Also, maybe I’m just being a homer but it always seems like other teams get up a little earlier to play at MSG. Sometimes it seems like the Rangers play the game on hardcore difficulty.

Totally agree with this. The Rangers have it too good at home and are definitely pampered at MSG. I think you're 100% right that the opposition comes into MSG jacked up to play, especially against a team that probably has a bit of a rep of being soft in league circles. On the road they play a much more simple game on offense.

Guess who got relegated to the sofa? His name rhymes with "they didn't spoon".

Answer: @Row I Goon

Yeah ... and beyond this they also had a hand in the 3-on-2 goal that was allowed. They all managed to get trapped in the Offensive zone lunging for pucks they didn't get rather than backing off when the situation called for it.

Like a moth to a flame, if the goalie has a clear sight line on the puck, Trouba will shoot.

His shot selection is horrible.

and yet we had to see fkin Trouba run pp2 and I have no doubt Jones will be demoted again soon.
It’s amazing how even when Jones is in the lineup they’ve routinely used Miller/Trouba who can’t even wipe their own ass by themselves on the power play

Not sure where he finished but there was a point last year where he had the worst shooting% of any player with 100+ shots haha. It’s even worse on PP2 where he seems to have this mentality of “well we’re the second unit so we just gotta get shots on” and unloads shit one timers from Guam the second he has a chance

To be fair to Trouba, I liked him better with Schneids.

We’re so much better without Lindrenburg.

Limiting our 3rd pair, which now has Schneider on it, to accommodate Lindgren is on the coaching staff

I don't even understand where the Tom Wilson comparisons come from. He doesn't do anything dirty or borderline.
He does play a bit like him if you take out that entire part of Wilson's game. Which isn't a bad thing. Wilson is a good player when he isn't being a sociopath.

Good summary and I can bet that a bunch of coaches and backroom staff would be reviewing the tape of that sequence and looking to replicate it.

Big guy, hits, speed through the neutral zone, hard wrister, likes to play in the blue paint. Already getting special teams time on both sides of the puck. Ive always thought it was a good comparison. Tom Wilson is a POS but he can play.

Sooo we were eating in the sports bar inside Rogers Arena a couple hours prior to the game and noticed a guy wearing a Rempe jersey, we went over and said we liked his jersey and told him how big of Rempe fans we were, and it just so happened that he was a close family friend of the Rempe's. He & Matt's mom were high school sweethearts back in the day. He was friend's with Matt's dad as well and raved about how great of a guy he was, and how great of a kid Matt is. He & his son were both there and had signed Rempe jerseys which Matt sent out to them. Matt's mom was there as well, and this Western Canada trip was going to be pretty special for him considering he would've got the chance to play in the arena (Calgary Saddledome) that his father who passed away when Matt was 15, built. He took a pic with us and sent it to Matt telling him he had big fans in Vancouver, he also sent him a pic of a certain sign I had made for him which you guys won't see until he does manage to come here. They said Matt would be fired up about it lol, excuse the absolute potato pic:
