Newhook will be a fine 3rd line guy. Or a nice to add asset to a trade.id rather keep DVO this summer and ship Newhook out
An ideal world sees him as the 3rd line winger. I think its our number 1 priority to get a legit 2nd line center, Laine's strengths and weaknesses aren't changing. But we can at least minimize his weaknesses and in the process really help Demidov but getting a strong 2nd line C.A thing that should be really obvious is, while there's possibly a role for Alex Newhook on a good hockey team, that role isn't in the Top-6.
Newhook 1 playoff goal in 28 games
You're not wrong, but when the linemate is the worst skater in the league who often defers to others to retrieve pucks, it's not good either. If we could combine them both into one player that'd be great. You can't have chemistry if you can't think the game at an NHL level. They've never had chemistry with anyone they've ever played with in their career. Purely passed by by their natural physical gifts. Like the kid in high school who gets As while sleeping in class then gets a rude awakening in University (speaking from experience...)
Still missing 3 ish pieces for that.
Laine tried hard. He was great on the PP. He’s just too slow to get 0 to 60 to be effective 5 on 5.I agree. I'm only blaming him for one play unfortunately IT BIT US.![]()
He had a decent game. The last sequence was unfortunate, we should have had a penalty. Expected a goal tonight tho. Don’t know if Marty is going to do any changes but Newhook and Laine is not working. The lack of face-off win by this trio was maddening.@the was hoping that an Amish Laine was going to be the key to delivering but sadly, it didn't happen. Maybe his production will unlock in time for next game.

He should be on the ice, maybe have Savard go behind the bench in a suit and tie.Even to have him on the bench would have an effect.
Dach of his first year here? Maybe. Dach of this year? HELLLLLLLL NO. (But it was understable in the circumstances AND he was getting at least a bit better by winter).Would have been Dach if he could stay healthy.
No need to call me out like that bor. Totally uncalled for.You can't have chemistry if you can't think the game at an NHL level. What we are playing with House Money...I'm thinking of taking a pass on the playoff GDT's. So many have lost perspective of what this team is up against with where we are in our timeline. This team has battled all season and has grown leaps towards a higher goal.
They've given us far more than expected and are treating us to playoff hockey. I want to enjoy that and this team in it's proper light, and not through the skew of a moronic emotion laced contingent who have lost all sense of the reality we're actually in.
There's so much to be proud of as a hab fan with this team. I'd much rather relish in that, and enjoy the last of whatever left they have in store for us.
And a defenseman, and a veteran goaltender to help FowlerI think Demidov or Slaf will work out just fine. Finding a viable 2C is the hard part. The other winger can be a bit of a hump by comparison.
That goal still goes in because he might even be worse than Newhook at faceoffs and just as bad defensively.Would have been Dach if he could stay healthy.
The shots from danger zones were 10-2 for Washington after 2 periods. We didn't test Thompson much until the 3rd. Galley mentioned he was overplaying his rebounds. We'll see if Habs coaches and pro scouts picked up on anything.Charlie Lindgren plays that game and it's a 5-2 win. Logan Thompson was real good.

Healthy and good and consistent. I'd be shocked if Hughes didn't address this in the offseason.Would have been Dach if he could stay healthy.
You think a coach has ever put Newhook out on the ice defending a lead in the playoffs? They'd be fired on the spot!Must have been an EN
Montembault Derangement Syndrome. And a defenseman, and a veteran goaltender to help Fowler
Demidov didn't play well the whole time in that game, even with Armia. Once the defenders took more notice of him, he was in trouble. The same thing happened at the end of the season in SKA, that's why he didn't play. And he didn't show much in this game either.Demidov looked way better when Armia was on his wing and not Laine. I don't understand the people in the Laine thread that think he's a good hockey player.
