Post-Game Talk: Capitals win game 1, lead series 1-0

Kapanen would get absolutely eaten alive. He was soft as baby shit in his last couple games which got him out of the lineup. Nothing we can really do about this second line. There's nobody else and the other lines are working.
We're just going to have to bide our time. As you said, nothing can be done. And yet, despite that, they scratched and clawed and made a game of it, sending it to OT, which was impressive. They got big time manhandled in the first two periods but they really showed something in the 3rd period.

Ridiculous. Laine was one of the best players, skated very well, kept the puck, played hard, tried to create chances, than one icing makes him enemy #1. But it's easiest to blame everything on him.
Yeah... I mean, I usually hate that type of player's game, but he played a pretty good game all things considered.

Hutson was absolutely brutal in defense, at least he redeemed himself with 2 assists. Laine, Slafkovsky, Demidov, Newhook were really bad, yes even Ivan. Third line ( 2nd ? ) was fin. 4th line lacked grit. Guhle and Matheson were bad. Carrier, Savard and Struble were ok.

Suzuki and Caufield were good, tried their best.

Montembault had a great game.

Team played well overall, good shooting volume, too soft along the boards though.
Lol you say the team played well overall but named 10 players that played okay or less than okay, + 4th line that lacked grit (I assume that's an average performance).

Totally out of hand now.

I'm thinking of taking a pass on the playoff GDT's. So many have lost perspective of what this team is up against with where we are in our timeline. This team has battled all season and has grown leaps towards a higher goal.

They've given us far more than expected and are treating us to playoff hockey. I want to enjoy that and this team in it's proper light, and not through the skew of a moronic emotion laced contingent who have lost all sense of the reality we're actually in.

There's so much to be proud of as a hab fan with this team. I'd much rather relish in that, and enjoy the last of whatever left they have in store for us.

Tough loss but great resilience. Habs seems like they want it more. Just Laine who caused the icing and turnover. We lost on small details. Need to be better and be ready to bring the fight Wednesday
Caps were celebrating pretty hard for beating the team that just squeaked into the playoffs. And yes, fawk Ovechkin.

He was a -2 and had like 10 turnovers. He started the match well but the 2nd and 3rd periods were shit

I agree. I'm only blaming him for one play unfortunately IT BIT US.

Laine's fault. I can't wait until these two are off the top 6. One moves like he's got 2 broken legs who shat his pants while the other has the hockey IQ of a Neanderthal skating a million miles an hour. These two have such bad chemistry that they shouldn't even be next to each other on the team plane or dinners.
You can't have chemistry if you can't think the game at an NHL level. They've never had chemistry with anyone they've ever played with in their career. Purely passed by by their natural physical gifts. Like the kid in high school who gets As while sleeping in class then gets a rude awakening in University (speaking from experience...)
