On defense: Sit back, let them skate into you and overcommit, counterattack with numbers.

On offense: move the puck around the outside until the devils overcommit and then throw the puck anywhere else because everyone else on your team will have time and space.

Devils only look marginally good forechecking if the other team can’t breakout quickly.

The goalie commentary is irritating for what I think are obvious reasons. We have what we think are average goalies, knowing that there's some risk they may not even be that. It's two players on a roster of 23, and there's not much that can be done to get a sure fire upgrade.

On the other hand...we have a multitude of skaters who are expected to be above-average to great. There's more than enough proven talent there for them to do their jobs well. Instead, we have putrid sloppy puck management, structureless lazy D, uninspiring incohesive breakouts and weak offensive pressure. These are all things that not only fail to mitigate weak goaltending...they make the goaltending even weaker than it would already be.

So excuse me if I'm not inspired to want to shit on questionable goaltenders as my primary complaint, while the guys in front of them who are paid tens of millions of dollars to deliver when things get tough look clueless af.

It is a stupid game to lose. Caps didnt nothing to win it. They had two good chances through the whole game, one they scored against Schmid, other Schmid stopped it.

They are trying to control the puck and score 100% chance. They need to shoot the damn puck more and find rebounds. Caps are not that good in defending and controlling the zone.
