Post-Game Talk: Capitals @ Rangers Game 6: HANK HANK HANK HANK!

Started a new job early last month. My team lead/peer is a Capitals fan. He started following the Caps in the early to mid 90's. He's also a fan, and knows the team's history. He even says that the "newer" post-Ovechkin fans are tough to take.

Tomorrow is going to be an interesting day.

I feel bad for him just like I do for the old school pre-Crosby Pens fans. I assume the Islanders will have the same phenomenon if they stay good.

To be honest, I think we can win tomorrow if we play the same way. We fore-checked hard, got chances and put in the effort. No one should downplay the great game Holtby had.

If the Caps share the same loser/self-entitled mentality as their fans, I like our chances. Oates was *****in about it too, and he's been pretty composed this series.

I should be taking advantage of this early start and get some sleep, but after that finish there's no chance. Adrenaline still too high.

I'm worried about tomorrow since Torts won't get his matchups, but I honestly think they have what it takes to get it done.

Lol @ Torts

This game, they played it just right. 1 - 0 against a top PP, not the time to be worrying about retaliation.

Yes, they did play this game right. Still, they could have still played this game right, and benefitted from deterrents. That is the NHL, always will be.

Great game. The boys played great.

Believe.

We score on the power play tomorrow, I feel we're gonna win the game... Right now, that seems like an impossibility. But if they can just score one a man up, I see them winning.

The question is how we win the away game. It's been home perfect so far and it has so much with the crowd and the energy. You're not going to be able to stymie the home team for more than 1 period. It'll be a test of the will.

They have to play like they did Game 5 pre-Boyle penalty. Come out flying and hitting.

If the Rangers expect to win a game 7 with this effort/game plan like they did today: may as well not watch at all.

You think Caps aren't going to get any PPs? Better hope Hank has another shut out...

Rangers have to score a few quickly. If they could somehow get 2 in the first ten minutes, and maybe get another on a power play late in the first, it could put some doubt in the Caps, and the bandwagoners might shut up.

Really about the only way I see the Rangers winning tomorrow.

Interesting.

It all comes down to how the Rangers carry the play over. They have to come out the way they came out today. They need to play like the Caps are up 3-2 again.

They generated numerous scoring chances and probably would've put up another had Richards not blocked a shot.

Holtby was excellent.

I've never seen so many tears over the officiating before. It's not like any of our guys are going around and crosschecking people in the face.

Mcilrath?

I don't get too hyped up, but I have seen the guy play out here in the WHL a few times, and he was a work in progress but formidable.
My own opinion is that you don't get carried away by doing the goon thing (I never liked having Boogaard or Scott, thought the idea was a joke) but a guy like McIlrath? Yeah. One good pasting of a greaseball like Ribeiro would have me clapping.
