I see we are finally throwing pucks at the net... Good things happen when you shoot!! The Rangers just fail to understand this... Its simple throw the damm puck on net and hope for a deflection or a rebound...

Even if just Nash steps up we would be a lot better. Stepan has been invisible every single year in the playoffs so far. If Callahan can play simply mediocre and Nash steps up -- we can do some damage.

He flashes glove for 2 and a half games, then allows a short side glove hand goal to a guy who scored 2 goals all year.

I'm very happy Hank doesn't feel the need to show off in net. His performance speaks for itself.

Speaking of Varlamov, I liked the kid, nice, quiet, humble, athletic kid, who almost shut down the Pens single-handedly. He also posted an insane performance against us last year in MSG. One of the most underrated goalies in the league. Holtby...not so much. Arrogant, disrespectful punk.

A lot comes from that. Being hemmed in our own zone continuously adds up and fatigues the players. It also prevents us from rushing up the ice on odd man rushes since the players are dead tired. There is a direct correlation with hemming in other teams and winning. The teams that can constantly trap others in their own zone are the ones that come out victorious probably 9 times out of 10. The Rangers are the ones getting hemmed in.
 
Unless the Rangers start winning some races and puck battles, especially in their own zone, they're in a lot of trouble.

Will you please relax... we are 2 games and 1 period into the playoffs and you are already throwing Stepan under the bus!! Its not just Stepan... The WHOLE team is not scoring... its not a one man show.. its a team game there buddy
 
I really don't think Steps matches up well against the Caps style of hockey. Im not excusing him of his play by any means, but I really think he's struggling to play against some of their defensive pairings.

It reminds me of Miller when he waved to the crowd to be scored on 3 seconds later. then 3 seconds after that.:laugh:
 
Would like some thoughts on our "superstar's play" He is so lethargic out there, he is making Richards look like Hagelin. I honestly thought he would be smarter when we got him, he seems so dumb sometimes.

Nash doesn't need to split the defense...It's the playoffs, you go for efficiency over flash. Why do you think Ovechkin is setting up his teammates with gaping, wide-open nets almost every time he's on the ice? He's one of the most dangerous guys in the world with the puck in the offensive zone...Nash doesn't seem to have any brains...or effort recently. He needs to draw guys to him, then kick it out to an open man....instead he floats through with his dangles, loses it, and watches our guys play defense...I don't want this guy if he will be playing like this.
 
Like that the score is 1-1.

Don't like that the Caps are spending more time in our zone than they should be.

Don't like that we are still not playing the game with the passion, intensity and urgency that this game requires.

still not hitting enough which is allowing the Caps to remains fresh and without second thought as to what they want to do with the puck before they get it.

want to see more intensity, want to see the Rangers dictate tempo and pace. Want to see the Rangers start hitting more to start wearing down the caps players.

we can't continue to skate with this team. we do not have the horses to do that

I wish Stepan would play like he does in the regular season. He hasn't shown up for a PO game yet.... he's what you call a "choker"
