Klein going down is what initiated the start of letting in 5+ goals per game... That's what really killed this team.

Klein was out after Nov. 30. The team went 4 games giving up 2 goals or less.

Girardi injured Dec. 9. Team proceeds to give up 5 goals or more in 5 out of 6 games.

But, yes, your twisted logic makes perfect sense. That said, it isn't either/or. It is the loss of both that is the problem.

It's not working but they're willfully turning a blind eye to it, and they have all season.

Yandle-McIlrath have been way too good to play bottom pair minutes. Torts (ew) used to always preach about earning your minutes and they've done just that.

Hilariously, Boyle is the exact opposite of last year. Much worse at ES, about a mile better on the PP.

I want to see Yandle and McI get more minutes. Agreed. I also want to see McD and G split up. I'd trade Staal if I could. Keep G, give him less minutes, and find a better partner for McD.

Boyle is basically Andy Delmore at this point in his career. Useful on the PP, but an abortion in every single other area on the ice. Having a PP specialist play as much as he does is insanity to me.

There will be trades.

There might even be a coaching change.

Head coaching change won't happen. It isn't the problem. This is a personnel problem. AV has earned himself the rest of the year no matter what happens.

Fairly obvious Gorton is smart enough to know this and him and AV are constantly communicating about the personnel. Zipay tweeted about it earlier.

No, no, no. Corsi told us two years ago Klein was a joke of a defenseman not worthy of a roster spot on this team. This can't possibly be true.

What is so funny is that they will insist the problem has been no Klein, and only no Klein. They don't want to give an ounce of credit to Girardi, so Klein gets all the credit.

Don't get this wrong, I think not having Klein has been a big reason why we've struggled recently. It should be pretty even credit given to the two of them though. They are competent NHL defenseman. Boyle, Summers, Skjei, not competent NHL defenseman. McIlrath, not ready for big minutes. McDonagh, not good on his right-side.

no buts its fact that many believers in corsi also said repetitively he belonged in the echl.

I bet everything in my wallet (exactly $2) there was never one person that seriously said Klein is an ECHL'er.

He dramatically improved in all facets of the game when he was traded here. It's rare but it can happen.

I appreciate your siver lining position, but you sir either didn't watch the game or you are in complete denial.

I saw 2 teams tonight. One lacking heart, fury, execution and sadly high end offensive talent.

The other having all those and sadly, more reliable goaltending.

Nothing was ok with his game. Nothing.

I said this in my rant but we have NO high end talent at all!!!!

This is a crazy idea but when both Klein and Girardi are healthy....

Try Boyle on the wing?

Roast me accordingly.

EDIT - Or play 7D/11F so that we keep Boyle in the lineup for the PP and the occasional shifts to spare other D.

If Mcilrath is not ready for big minutes, Girardi shouldn't be getting more than 10 a game. Just because Skjei, Staal and Boyle shouldn't be either doesn't make Girardi and better. It's a rookie, an equally bad defenseman and an almost ~40 yeard old Dan Boyle for christ sake lol.

No one EVER EVER EVER said Klein belonged in the ECHL. EVER! (If they did, it was a dumb thing to say.)

What was said was that he was best fit as a 3rd pairing defensemen, and for that his contract was not as good as everyone here was making it out to be.

Thankfully he has been a good fit with McD this year when he was healthy and AV was actually playing them together instead of forcing Ding Dong Dan out there with McD instead.

Let's just hope that Klein returns to playing with McD and continues to be a good match there. Last time he came back from an injury he looked like total garbage.

Hate to be that guy but this loss wasn't that bad at all.

Even strength was pretty even. Goaltending made like two above average saves. PK awful.

Eh, the players sucked, though, too. The goaltending was absurdly brutal (almost like Hank forgot we had a game), but everyone kinda sucked. Lol.

Can't wait to see people try and defend this goaltending, though.

The argument was that he was making $2.9M to play 3rd pairing minutes, while McIlrath was NHL-ready on an ELC. No one foresaw him playing like a stud on the top pairing with McDonagh.

I also agree with ECL on the whole Girardi spiel. He's absolutely valuable as a second/third pairing guy. He's your grunt guy who can eat minutes in a pinch and be a really good PKer. Only issue is he can't do that against top competition without being exposed and makes too much money for that role. I really like Girardi, but I really hate his contract.

Just as in your life, my life and many others here I am sure...hockey isn't the most important thing, and as important as hockey is to Henrik Lundqvist, his life/family outside of hockey is more important.

He would never uproot his family, friends and his business interests from New York just to try and win a cup somewhere else.

He either wins one here, or he never does. I really believe that.

I think you underestimate how badly he wants to win. Having said that, i doubt we will ever see him in anything but a rangers uniform.

I don't totally agree or disagree, but contract or no contract, Girardi is playing on the top pair and that won't change until he starts literally throwing pucks into his own net.
