I don't ever remember the league going that far out into the future. They tend to keep it really close to the vest. They must have gotten some crazy projection on the Canadian TV contract, impact of gambling advertising, or something else, because that's a crazy increase.
This is really more of a catch-up. COVID messed up the revenues with empty arenas and the like, so the League had to go into debt to stay operational and avoid having to lower the salary cap.

That was more of a hope or expectation toward the middle or end of their 10.5 millionz Stunley blunders, while the projections coming out now are more based in facts about the next several season....the projection for the '25/26 cap is based almost all on stuff that has already occured (ie this seasons revenue which is 2/3rds already in the bank) and the '26/27 projection is based on the Canadian TV money which is virtually to the finish line. The cap is going up 25-30 million in the next 3 seasons and 20 of it is basically done deal at this point.
They aren't facts until they're real. For now they're projections. And if tariffs kill the Canadian dollar another fifteen cents that 20 million isn't 20 million anymore.

The cap is going to go up. How much remains to be seen.

So where is the extra HRR co ing from?
Did ticket prices rise that mich?
No...I think it is because the NHL embraced betting and is getting a cut pff the bets plus from rights deals with the online betting sites and from the casinos taking soirts bets..

So even if the can dollar dropped from 70cents u.s. to 60 cents u s.,what in the past was a major problem with declining HRR from the revenues generated by Canadian teans, now is more than offeset if not now overwhelmed by spectacular growth in jockey betting which before thecNHL got no revenue from bit now is getting bushels of dough from this source.

That would be incredibly dumb better to just do the full 8 he would command even more in 2028
I mean it might be dumb, but it is predicated on the fact that he may bolt as a UFA. He may not want to commit to a really longterm contract unless it is a massive overpay. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Does anyone know just how rich the Wirtz’s are? Because I don’t know if I can deal with another Chicago franchise nickel and dime-ing in this new cap world.

All this means the current co tender teams get to keep sone high priced or goi g to next co tract stars on their team instead of cap dumping them off in trades or letting them go to ufa.

However teans lije tge Hawks with large cap space can force back tough decisions on loaded co tender teams by using OFFER sheets if not to actually get young stars or soon to be stars goibg to 2nd contracts BUT at least forcing their teams to match at prices maybe they will not be able to if they also have vets they want to keep coming up on next co tracts..
However tge cost of higher picks if you go past the lower compensation amounts coukd be disastrous to the Hawks fire prosoect pool.. but still at so e point Hawks will want immediate help ..si at sone pint Hawks will give quality and quantitybofvgoidvpicjs to acquire some target they think makes them akso a contender.

With tgex2026 draft next draftcafter this coming draft considered very deep ,Hawks may not be using any offer sheet strategy till after thec2926 draft..but I woukd not rule it out after the 2026 draft.

When Rocky was alive it was in the billions, so money isn't the issue, but I don't know if they've sold off anything since his passing.

While the Blackhawks were making money even though there was that article trying to claim poor and that they were losing money, it was the booze business that really built his wealth.

It will be a matter of if they want to spend to the cap, not if they have the money to do it.

Tough times in the booze business. Competing against literal billionnaires. Not a problem yet, something to monitor. As long as they can spend to the top of cap and retain and do stuff, I'll be fine. Alotta owners could be left behind in this huge Cap increase environment.

he has a NMC: not too likely he'll be willing to go to another doormat and lose big again

I think it's much more likely that he'll waive if he's going to a contender
No one wants trash for 10 million, if we have learned from Hawks GM in the past, Davidson would give two 1sts away and retain some salary to get rid of that contract lol, what a bunch of clowns we have had that have run this team into the ground, the cap going up means this GM is just gonna bring out the check book and give freely, another thing we have learned from Stan the Man amd how things are done around here.

Revenue by year according to Forbes....

2024 - $8.4B
2023 - $7.1B
2022 - $6.4B
2021 - $5.6B
2020 - $5.5B

They seem to be doing just fine.
