He is actually a middle 6 and versatile enough to play up and down the line-up. Is he all world no, but I think people forget how he helped create scoring chances, board battles and a sustained forecheck. Danforth and Texier (Bjorkstrand was in the same vain) will help this group get back that part of the game that has been missing. You don't miss it until it's not there.
