Hey, you wanted a tank? Because this is how you tank! ;)
I definitely don't want a full tank, but it seems like a rebuild is inevitable.

I do think a top ~8 pick and a few top 60 picks this year would be extremely beneficial, and i think selling miller at last tdl was an absolute no brainer.

If he was healthy I would have posted the same thing but had his name. Or Nils Aman.

The point is - not good enough. Team filled with wingers has run into predictable issues.
I think your point that they don't really have a 3rd line center is a good one. They have guys that can play center-EP40 (natural top 6, also can play wing), Bo (natural 2nd liner and goto for important faceoffs), Miller (natural top 6 but perhaps best as a winger), then Aman and Lazar (4th liners) followed by depth players.

No way Vancouver loses tonight.

Losing 7 in a row I can take. Losing against the freaking troll dolls would be unacceptable and catastrophic.

Jared McCaan scores tonight. He would be our leading scorer on this team. We traded him (a 1st round pick) for a depth defensman. Insane.

JTM9 is a terrible center. His best attribute is his board battle and cutting off breakout passes from opponent defense. He’s also lost in the defensive end. He’s a winger that is above average at face offs.

Isn't that they don't have a third line center a good reason to pay Horvat 10 mil a season for 8 years?

Make my day.
Pod on the 4th line?

I would have thought Mikheyev-Aman might have been interesting, if only because it'd be fast.

My point that I have been annoyingly saying since the off-season is that they needed to acquire a top9 player who has the capability to play center so you would at least have the flexibility to change your lines (mainly, move EP/Miller to wing) without having 4th liners move into the top9. It was just a very obvious need with this Miller/EP/Horvat team build. Like, sign Evan Rodrigues for 1yr x 2.5 or whoever and plant him as your 3rd line RW but then when you want to load up a line you have a guy you can move over. Instead this team is overflowing with middle six wingers who can't play center and now when they want to switch things up you have career minor-leaguers in key roles on the team.

Obviously even better would have been an actual 3C who is can PK/eat defensive minutes etc. But if that's not available, find a guy to plug in for a year.

Why is Miller playing right wing when he was always a LW? Put the players in their natural position.
Off-wing cherry pop, Bruce isn’t a rookie.

We always see quality seasoned wingers who make the move to off wing and it gives them an extra step for a while , sometimes whole year

I tend to think legitimate NHL players (like Miller obviously is) shouldn't have too much trouble playing either side on the wings. Not like he'll be defending much in that role (whereas if he was a defenseman, it would be more of an issue).

Just a thought but maybe Miller on RW stops him from doing those brain-dead backhand sauces into the middle of the ice. Miller is notorious for button hooking on the left side then passing over his shoulder into the middle of the ice. Putting him on the right side would prevent that and force him to use the boards more or give him his forehand passing option instead.

No idea if that's the reason but it is the only thing I can think of.

One thing I cannot get out of my head is that preseason. We ran with AHL guys and plugs for 90% of it, then are shocked that the real lineup starts the season disjointed and out of sync.

We see good teams use that time to find chemistry in linemates and dial in systems, yet here we are 8 games in, and I don't think we've have a single game where our lines have been the same.

It was the same thing last October, it is absolutely shocking it happened again under new management.

Bench Joshua and then we will win
He plays 10 minutes a game on the 4th line, I don't think he's been that bad overall where benching him for some other scrub will make much of a difference

Unless he takes a dumb penalty again

Dumb penalties, gets stuck in his own zone and can't clear out anything.
I thought he would be able to stabilize the 4th line, turns out he's Jeff Cowan 2008

Even the President concedes they had a 'lousy training camp'. So for the third year in a row, the inescapable conclusion is that the players and coaches simply didn't have the commitment or work ethic to get ready for the season.

It's almost impossible to overstate how bad a look this is for the entire organization. I mean the Canucks never make the playoffs, so they're off from early April to mid-September every year. If you can't put in the effort and mental commitment in a two-week training camp, what does it say about the character of this roster?

No wonder Rutherford described it as a 'country club atmosphere'.

He didnt describe the Canucks as a 'country club atmosphere'..Nick Kypreous said that...clickbait garbage.

JR praised the Canucks for winning despite the adversity of missing players through covid and injury last season..Every player on the team pulled their weight when Boudreau took over

JR obviously has a different opinion this season though.

I'm sure from the obvious sarcasm that you're making a point, but haven't figured out what it is.
You know how sometimes you'll be walking down the street and come upon a disheveled person screaming nonsense to no one in particular? That's what I like to think this poster is for hf boards.
