Ripping the puck was a TOP priority

Was going to post this one:

Playing through injuries was the norm for Thatcher. He had been playing with issues in both hips for a while. In 2015, he opted for surgery.

"He had double hip surgery. He had an impingement on both sides, bone on bone, and he had torn labrums," said Thatcher's mom, Danielle Demko, "So it was both hips, and normally the doctor doesn't do both hips at the same time because the body can't handle all that trauma. When they tested Thatcher, they told him he was in such great shape, you can endure this, and Thatcher wanted to get both done and accelerate and be done with it and get back to playing."

Watch Demko in any scramble drills around the crease. If he goes for a desperation save from the butterfly, look to see if his legs are spread. That is the hip extension that Clark teaches to build "ground up" coverage in a panic situation. If he does that, his hips are fine.

He would also have a narrower butterfly and would try to stay within his skates more. I don't think he's injured.

I don't think so. Look at his down movement, it's fairly smooth. He's also been able to contort and battle. You don't do that stuff if your hip is messed up.

IMO right now his tracking is off, which is both the easiest and hardest thing to fix. Usually though a goalie at the NHL level will put together sporadic streaks with great tracking. But Demko has just been on a constant cold streak. I especially think that right now Demko isn't tracking any of the high danger stuff well.
Seen him wearing glasses lately wonder if his eyes have had some issue that didn't exist before

IDK i dont even fault him for 2 of the goals given they skated right in on him but he didnt exactly challenge aggressively and looks weak and sloppy.

This team is really just Pettersson, Miller and Horvat. The other guys aren't beating goalies clean from 20 ft away. Lots of players on our team can skate and get to pucks, but not much finish or offensive creativity in Garland, Hoglander. At least Podkolzin did that one assist where he used his edges to turn and find a open player.

Don't see where the goals are going to come from. Aman, Joshua just shovel pucks along the wall and don't use each other offensively like Highmore, Motte used to.

Not sure what Mikehyev or Kuzmenko are doing. I liked Lazar the most after the big 3.

I don't care if we have 2 PP goals tonight, our PP is trash. Earlier Miller gained zone entry and then dumped the puck around the net...what sort of designed play is that lol.

When you watch an elite PP like Edmonton's and it's nothing but movement and smart passes. Our PP looks like a game of hot potato with the puck.

Nice to know that I'm not full of shit. From the article:

"
“The biggest thing is his flexibility and his ability to make those desperate saves where he can spread out,” Cloutier said.

“It’s not that he never attempted those in his first year, but I found the (hips) restrained him. It was tight.

“You could sense that he had tightness in his hips.”

Was it amazing then he was able to have the success he had?

“Oh, for sure,” Cloutier said. “His butterfly, even if you’re not a goalie guy, you’ll see this weekend how wide it is now, how much flare he has.

“Before, he had a very narrow butterfly. All his lower body, including his back, is probably looser too.”

I don't think he's hurt.
