The sad thing is we are still gonna be in win now mode.........we clearly need a retool. This falls squarely on management and using what little cap we had on a forward and not addressing our MASSIVE glaring need on D.........

I have been watching a decent amount of hockey, what I am seeing is the league is passing the canucks by again at the start of the year like early last season when green got canned. Sub par teams are playing hard with renewed optimism, energy levels, and excitement, and like last year this core is coming out playing like its game 50 of the season.

They cant seem to match the pace or effort level of any team right now.
Exactly. Canucks look like they don't give a damn what happens. Entire teams skates like they are in quick sand and constantly just give up on every play.

Last year we couldn't afford to trade demko because he was too important to the team. This year we can't afford to trade him because he's too important to the tank.

I’m not defending Demko, but he was the reason we were a thing last year. Yes he’s struggled, but good teams find ways to win.

Colorado won a f***ing cup with Kuemper.
And this isn’t an unusual thing with goaltenders. Ups and downs. Periods of unsustainable play at both ends of the spectrum.

I also wonder how much the off-season surgery is affecting things.

Two things that I thought would result in a bottom 5 finish for the Nucks were an injury to Hughes and Demko. Hughes is injured and it shows how important he is because he's the only one that can transition the puck. Demko might as well be injured because he needs to play like a top 3 goalie in the league for the Nucks to have a sniff at the playoffs.

Is this defense the worst in the league right now? Or do they have the Yotes/Habs beat? Habs have some young guys who look decent. Yotes without Chychrun but they still have Ghost

Disagree. The overall play of the ENTIRE team has cost them wins, they’ve been bad from top to bottom except for Pettersson, Kuzmenko and Podz.
Give us even average goaltending and we are roughly at 0 goal differential and have won a few games this year
