Don’t really get the Miller comparisons for DeBrusk. DeBrusk has played half his ice time with Bergeron and/or Marchand. Has great results with Bergeron, average without him. Miller had strong linemates at times but produced well without them too.

Miller was producing more at even strength on his own, and has really gone to the next level by becoming an elite playmaker, particularly on the power play. DeBrusk can score goals but is a pretty poor playmaker.

Plus Miller’s breakout was unusual, so it’s not something you should bank on or reasonably expect.

It’s more like, can Debrusk breakout with us like Hyman.

Petey does have somebody who "can actually put the puck in the net".....his good friend Nils Hoglander who had 24 goals last season (all on 5 on 5). Debrusk had 19. Both played 80 games. Hoglander makes 1.125 M. Signing Debrusk feels like Banning signing Sutter...but worse as it is a longer term. A deal they will soon regret. Just when we thought we had a crafty administrative team they go and do this not long after getting fleeced by Calgary in the Linholm trade. Losing faith!
Go for a walk or something

Consistent 20 goal scorer almost 30 x3 while no power play time. It’s not a bad signing. Does he put as much points as Guentzel have he played with Crosby and or Malkin the past 7 years ?

I think this is a very solid signing.

Allvin avoided some of the landmine contracts and acquired a "young" UFA that should fit well in the structure of the team.

Debrusk has historically been a pretty efficient ES rate scorer, roughly around a 1st line level the past few seasons in production. His two-way impacts look excellent. And critically, his speed and rush game brings a desperately needed element to the Canucks' offense. And his forechecking microstats are also strong. IMO this is a very good fit. I didn't think the Canucks would be in on Debrusk, but it's good work from Allvin.

Drop him and Heinen on Petey's wings, and they have an effective line.

Better. He'll put up 60-70 points routinely playing with quality players. And he brings it in the postseason.

6'1 200lb means he adds a bit of bite to Pettersson's line.
I’m not saying one isn’t better than the other but Mik is 6’2” 190ish lbds. Point is they were both signed to be guys who are big, fast, defends well, can PK and score goals. No doubt DeBrusk has a longer history of scoring goals so he's a more reasonable bet to be a top 6 option.

I suspect he will be a better fit alongside Myers than Petey. We shall see.

No. Guentzel is clearly the better player.

exactly, there's going to be nights where he looks like a slightly bigger Beauvillier.

Thought the canucks needed a needle mover who can create. Debrusk is a 2nd line straight line goal scorer.

And then we added quantity.

Rule of thumb in FA, is always quality over quantity.

Uhhh sorry. When did this become a “rule of thumb”?

Hopefully the Bruins curse is over (we haven't had much luck with former Bruins, especially players coming from Boston).
