Found money and with his speed and versatility playing the wing or down the middle, he could carve out a decent 4th line role for himself here. Hopefully he can play on the pk at some point.

Wasn't really on my radar, but I'm cheering for him, if just only because the interview of him watching his dad cheer him on was gold.

His interview after his 2 assist game a couple of nights was good as well.

The intriguing thing about Sasson, is something he alluded to in his interview. The game seems to be 'slowing down' for him.

In his first five games, he was moving at 100 mph and running on adrenalin. But now he's holding on to pucks longer, and finding either the trailer or the open guy. And he has the speed to back up defenders and buy himself even more time.

I still think center is his more natural position. But if he stays on a line with Blueger, then he can take a majority of the faceoffs.

Amazing to see Sasson score his first NHL goal, unfortunately it was the only highlight for the Canucks in their dismal display against the Bruins tonight. Got to keep Sasson in the lineup though, the kids a gamer.

Congrats on his 1st

i think he's been the best of all the call ups/fringe players this year so far; wins a lot of battles
Having watched a lot of Sasson's games in Abbotsford, I'd say he playing better in the NHL than he was in the AHL.

Sometimes that happens with a guy. The game is faster and more structured at the NHL-level. And players who are excellent skaters and positionally sound, actually find it an easier game to play.

Sasson has been pretty good, but before the hype train gets out of control, he is a prime example of high PDO over small sample size making him look better than he is. At evens:
Sasson: 23% on ice shooting percentage, 97% on ice save percentage. 1.20 PDO (first on the team)
Raty: 8% on ice shooting percentage, 89% on ice save percentage. 0.98 PDO
Aman: 13% on ice shooting percentage, 81% on ice save percentage. 0.94 PDO
Lekkerimaki: 4% on ice shooting percentage, 86% on ice save percentage. 0.90 PDO (last on the team)

His xGA numbers are much better than Lekkerimaki and Aman's, but not as good as Raty's. I don't think he has been as good as Raty overall, and Lekkerimaki has been terribly unlucky in general and deserves another look.
Sasson is now at an even 25% with 6 goals in the 24 shots the Canucks have had while he has been on the ice.
Also now outscoring his iXG 1>0.74
The eye test says he has been pretty good, but this is exactly the sort of luck to start a career that will earn you a top 6 look.

I mentioned at the end of last season that he'd caught up to Bains, maybe even passed him. But I didn't think that he had a compelling preseason, and his first couple of weeks in Abbotsford were nothing to get excited about, so I had backed off a little on him. Goes to show that a very small sample of games isn't the way to judge a guy; and the same can be said about his small number of games with Vancouver.
