Did someone finally tell them they are allowed to trade the assets they get from this deal in another deal for different assets? Right on!
You’re acting like they didn’t do exactly that with the Horvat/Hronek trades. The issue now is maybe there wasn’t something like that they deemed a possibility in the near future.Did someone finally tell them they are allowed to trade the assets they get from this deal in another deal for different assets? Idk man, the main piece of that package was Filip Chytil and I'm convinced Chytil will turn into a dynamic 60+ point C one of these days as long as he stays healthy. He's gotten bigger and this year he's been able to take some big boy hits without floundering. Last year while he was injured and in Czech he was training with Jagr which I love to see.Oh please no, that package was so atrocious, it will set the Canucks back years
-Drafted in 2019, failed to make NHL.Floated this on the Canes board.
To Carolina
Miller (no retention)
To Vancouver
Kotkaniemi
Roslovic
Suzuki
pick (2nd, 1st is possible with an add from Van)
Suzuki is a very good prospect, will likely get NHL time in the very near future, but just for some reason hasn't been able to crack the code here in Raleigh.
If looking for roster players , IF NJ is actually in on Miller , Mercer would probably be the best option out of who has been mentioned as possible trade assets no ? Or would Chytil be seen as good / better ? Or Schneider or K Miller ?If the Canucks were interested in a rebuild this trade would have been completed already, this management group is looking for roster players and the prospects and picks would most likely be used to get other roster players.
Mercer probably more value than Chytil right now. Chytil injury history is Byram bad. Mercer not really a full time C though, NJ has better prospects, but NYR's first round pick has a lot more value. If looking for roster players , IF NJ is actually in on Miller , Mercer would probably be the best option out of who has been mentioned as possible trade assets no ? To be fair, Benning could never figure that out.Did someone finally tell them they are allowed to trade the assets they get from this deal in another deal for different assets? Right on!
I’m very low on Suzuki but it’s worth noting this his development was severely hindered by a significant eye injury he had several years ago, and that he seems to be over at this point. I wouldn’t consider him a key piece in any trade, probably equivalent value of like a late 2nd/3rd round pick, but just pointing out some context-Drafted in 2019, failed to make NHL.
-went unclaimed on waivers
-not even deemed worthy of a 1 way contract, and even his 2 way contract has a pitiful 70k minors salary
-nothing special in the AHL
Clearly an elite level prospect
If any team in the NHL valued him at a 2nd round pick, said team would have claimed him on waivers.I’m very low on Suzuki but it’s worth noting this his development was severely hindered by a significant eye injury he had several years ago, and that he seems to be over at this point. Not really. A team claiming him on waivers would've had to keep him on their NHL roster at the time. I think you're overrating what a late 2nd or 3rd round pick is worth. It's pretty much nothing. Which is what I think Suzuki is worth. If you value picks that much then I'll amend my statement and say he's worth a 6th round pick. Happy? To me, there's pretty much no difference between pick in the 60s and a pick in the late 100s. All a random crapshoot at that point. If any team in the NHL valued him at a 2nd round pick, said team would have claimed him on waivers.
If valuing a guy who passed through waivers at a 2nd round pick is "very low on him" I don't know what to tell you.
Sure.Mittelstadt + Cal Ritchie + 1st
Devs are NOT trading Mercer in ANY deal. Sorry.Mercer probably more value than Chytil right now. Chytil injury history is Byram bad. Mercer not really a full time C though, NJ has better prospects, but NYR's first round pick has a lot more value.
trading with both these teams (and carolina) are much better than Boston, so let the Metro arms race float Miller's price.
That's a decent package but will salaries fit?Mittelstadt + Cal Ritchie + 1st
That’s why I warmed you up with little detail. Y’all gonna retain 2M?That's a decent package but will salaries fit?
I like Craig Button saying that if he was the NJ GM, he'd ‘put Simon Nemec on a bicycle up to Vancouver’Devs are NOT trading Mercer in ANY deal. Sorry.
