Rumor: Canucks: Should I stay or should I go? Pete stays and Miller goes!

After a certain age. People are who they are. Expecting Miller to change isn’t going to happen. You either accept the player with his warts and all or you don’t and trade them. Can’t have it both ways.

Hughes is gone to NJ in 2.5 years, I’d trade Miller and go for it while Quinn is still a Canuck. Gamble on Peterson returning to form as he has this season without the cancer miller in the lineup
I have to agree. The opportunity of joining his brothers in the USA no less will just be too tempting for Hughes. It’s sad for Canucks fans, but it is what it is.

That would be a typical Drury deal. An overpaid, disgruntled, mostly underwhelming player who reportedly only wants to come to New York and we're going to trade a promising 23-year old who will skyrocket on a new team (even more so than Kakko).

Drury is King Sadim. Everything he touches turns to shit. He's on his way to being one of the worst GMs of all-time.

Did Marc Staal go to Carolina when Eric and Jordan were there?
I get the connection, but it's ridiculous to say it's a foregone conclusion that Quinn will go to New Jersey.
nj has the blueprint to be a juggernaut. very tempting option especially since the canucks are caught up in so much drama. he'd no longer be in a different country, on a different coast and wouldn't have to put up with canadian hockey media

I'd be very surprised if Quinn bolted...........he's the captain here and by all accounts doing an incredible job with that. Him bolting to join his brothers is very unfounded conjecture.

He's never expressed even a hint of interest in this.........not happening nope

With the comments about how Pettersson plays when Miller is out of the lineup, I have to wonder if we’re looking at a Duchene-MacKinnon situation. Is it possible that moving Miller and saying to Pettersson, “the team is yours now,” unlocks a new level for EP?

I love JTM…

…but to think that Drury might have turned Lafreniere and Kakko into Will Borgen and let’s say 2-3 good seasons from JTM is mind boggling.

I’m not even talking about the trades (or potential trade) either. Just how far he allowed those assets to depreciate.

To think of what each of those guys were worth at their peak, and what that would have done for the Rangers franchise…

…and now it feels very much like a desperation move by a GM trying to save his job.

JTM’s greatest value would seem to be to go to a team that has a legit chance to compete for a Cup over the next 2-3 seasons…

…the Rangers have at best a 50/50 shot at even getting into the playoffs. This makes no sense for them.

There are striking similarities to Benning trading for OEL in an effort to save his job.

JTM would seem to be the kind of player that could make a huge difference for the Devils or Stars, but the Rangers make little sense here.

…but, if you’re willing to send Lafreniere our way, I’m down.

I might be wrong, but I think JT Miller is more likely to return the Bo Horvat package: that is a 1st, prospect, player, plus a little more here and there than be moved in a superstar for superstar mega blockbuster.

Just don't think teams would be in the head space of acquiring a recent 100 point scorer, but more of a 70-80 point guy plus some baggage and a high cap hit in-season.
I don't think he gets moved but calling him a 70-80 point player is a bit misleading.
He's like top 10 in scoring since joining the nucks.

This has been a tough season for us nuck fans but at the end of the day we are a point out of the playoffs despite not icing a full lineup once this season and two games with our 5 best players.

Demko should only get better and if the team can build off Saturday's win there is zero reason to trade a legit 1C, especially for a shit package.

I doubt stars fans feel the need unload Robertson for a loss despite a poor season by his standards with the only difference being the absolutely shit media causing shit here.

If that’s the case and Hughes is gone in 2.5 years…wouldn’t it be better to trade EP and keep JTM for those 2.5 years…make a run with the C that’s actually producing

Not a Canucks fan but I just wanted to ask, is it at all possible the Canucks trade both JT and Boeser if they can’t come to a contract extension and kind of re-set things while still being in a playoff spot? It’s not like you guys are a bad team at all. I would assume they’d try to get bodies back to help now instead of draft picks and prospects. Not very often you have a good young team and 2 guys who have a fair size market that the team might trade while still being in a playoff hunt.

Until we see it I have a hard time believing they would trade Boeser at the deadline althou nothing would surprise me at this point.

I've always thought Boeser likes is here a lot and was pretty committed to staying........and as such management could probably get a slight discount on his true value..........and thus would be inclined to try to sign him.

Let's just say I'm not soo sure now.........With the current status of the team it's much more likely all cards are on the table. I could also see this season souring Brock a bit on Van and as such making him more likely to head back to his home state of Minny......There's always been some talk about the Wild being hot for me and it strikes me as very plausible.

Are any

Are any of those prospects higher than a B or B+ type prospect?

Not really. I was surprised they were the names

Not like they Don’t have a shot cause they both have good tools and are doing better in the AHL

Kind of feels like Vancouver wants to move on from the 8 million

Chytil is great but 1 hit away from retirement so it’s a risk

I think that's a fair observation. It seems night and day with EP depending on whether Miller is in the lineup or not. Granted, that doesn't exactly speak well of EP, but it is what is.

Putting pieces together it was Chytil , Chelmar , Sykora

Maybe Smith or Vesey

JT plus some AHL bodies
Chytill always looks really strong every Ranger game I watch. Of course Miller is a 1C, but Chytill sure looks like a really good 2C. He’s big, skilled, and very smart defensively. Considering contracts this could be a fair trade one for one. Don’t know why the AHL players tossed in?

I would say Sykora is a B level prospect. Good potential and on a 40 point pace in the AHL and is only 20 and being playing pro since he was 16.

Chmelar is more a C prospect. Nothing really special about him but good work ethic
