Rumor: Canucks: Should I stay or should I go? Pete stays and Miller goes!

you will be disappointed then because he has 5 full years left in his 30s. If he had just 1-2 yrs you'd get a decent return. 5 yrs is something else because the last 3 yrs are a concern. And poor ROI

That is why tesm want to talk to him about his intent to retire if he is not putting up the numbers.
8 million in 3 years will be nothing. NHL removed escrow from players and cap going way up next 3 years. In fact the discussion is the NHL may have to say how high before trade deadline so GMA know.

Miller's is a top 10 player ... his cap gets gets cheaper ... meanwhile look at what Marner wants and then Mc David and in and in. so stop your nonsense mate

EXACTLY.

Anybody else pushing a different narrative is ignorant.

Miller with a great game tonight so far.

Petterson not doing much
Insane how much better EP was when Miller wasn't in the line up. Would be very interesting to see if he goes back to being that much better right when Miller is gone.

**for the record, EP made some really great defensive plays towards the end

This is what scares me for the Canucks:

I can’t imagine trying to convince a single fan during the playoffs last year that they should be moving Miller out to keep Pettersson happy.

That Miller was the guy to move and keep the 1G 5A Pettersson.

Yet here we are.

As a fan of the Canucks (my Western Conference team) Pettersson…

…you better F-in’ step up, pull this team into the playoffs and beat Miller’s production. No F-in’ excuses, avoiding the media like a baby, crying, being bullied off the puck, or scooting’ out the back door and playing like a PeeWee in a major bantam game.

Enough is enough and it’s time to earn even a morsel of what you’ve already been paid and a fraction of the letter on the jersey.

Quote since he signed for 11.6.

More frustration rant:

Pettersson, you are paid more than Miller and Joshua COMBINED yet produce a fraction of what they do when the games matter.

ENOUGH

Pettersson, you are paid more than Garland and Boeser COMBINED yet disappear when they step up and carry the team.

ENOUGH

You got your way. Now, step up for the first time and be the player you demanded to be paid as.

Trade them both and rebuild.
No, I think keeping Pettersson is the right move IF ANY ONLY IF he actually wakes up and starts playing like he gives a s**t and wants to be here. Like he deserves half of the 11.6 he is earning, because he just forced the team to trade the best C they had in the playoffs and likely his cap hit also means Boeser is gone.

Earn it.

Be out facing the media every single night, win or lose. Push yourself and your teammates to match your intensity and dedication to the Canucks, who happen to be paying you more than anyone else in the franchise.

Because, you just played the largest role in pushing out the guy who stepped up in your shoes and did the job for you when the games mattered most.

What do you mean? What did they replace it with?

He won't be traded.

This place was so sure he'd be moved 3 and 2 years ago.

Tonight was a statement game, no sane manager is watching that and thinking this team has any business making or getting through the playoffs without JT. The team goes as Miller goes, and that will continue.

This is the second time that Miller's been either held out of a game, or almost held out of a game and a trade to the Rangers has fallen through in the last few years.

Come on man lol. Wanting him to stay is one thing... acting as if it wasn't almost over the line is another thing.

Miller is turning 32, funny how people are acting like he won't be regressing lol
For the Bruins, if you get 3-4 years out of him like they did from Marchand, Bergeron, Krejci from 31-35 I'd be happy. That's the end of the window for many of them anyways and this re-tool/rebuild has been stretched almost a half decade already longer than most of us thought.

Zacha - Miller - Pastrnak
Marchand - Lindholm - Lysell/Merkulov
Geekie - Poitras - Frederic
Brazeau - Kastelic - Koepke
Beecher

Zadorov - McAvoy
Lindholm - Peeke
Lohrei - Wotherspoon
Oesterle

Swayman
Koprisalo

That's a team that can give soft/top-seeded teams a run for their money in the first round and take their pound of flesh.

And there may be a 3rd, and a 4th..

Players got reimbursed the escrow this year is the headline I thought, but I didn’t read it yet

Presumably at some point they’ll keep raising the cap every year until they need escrow again

Canucks screwed themselves letting Tanev walk, thinking he was too old at 30, and would soon be washed. They never really recovered from that.

JT doesn't have nearly the mileage on him that many older star players have, players that are still among the best in the league. Was a low minute guy up until joining the Canucks, no deep playoff runs or serious injuries.

Canucks are weird. Great efforts against the Leafs and Oilers sandwiched between a series of stinkers. I think they have a good team, I hope they keep Miller and recover. A lot of stupid noise coming out of the rumor mill, especially Eliot Fraudman.

Hughes is gone to NJ in 2.5 years, I’d trade Miller and go for it while Quinn is still a Canuck. Gamble on Peterson returning to form as he has this season without the cancer miller in the lineup

What are they giving up for Miller?

The only assets that would be a worthy return are listed on your roster.
