Oof, that Guentzel contract is buyout proof.
Hmm. My post didn't show up.

Well, here's an edit:

The bonus structure allows the player to pay state taxes on the majority of the income instead of having only 50% of it covered by that particular state. Is that correct? There's the benefit of getting more cash in advance, and a degree of savings on the taxes?

Assuming Silovs comes in around $1M and we carry 1 extra forward and 2 extra d, they seem to have around 2-2.25M to spend on another dman before entering LTIR.

You need a couple million in space for the banking to be worth while at the deadline. So they really only have 2.75m in space now with 1-1.5m of that earmarked for a back-up.

Yes they’d have to spend less than the 2-2.25 to actually accumulate anything useful, that’s a good point.

Where is everybody getting 4.7m from? I've got them at 3.7m. Or are you guys not penciling in a backup goaltender into your remaining cap space?
assume patera is the backup. subtract one league minimum forward salary and the tolopino salary from the existing cap usage showing on capfriendly which shows 3m for 24 players. that leaves roughly 4.7m to sign one additional player to create a 23 person roster.

optionally, if silovs is the backup, subtract patera's salary and they have $5.5m to sign silovs and one additional player.

10.75 spent on Sherwood, Heinen, Forbot and Debrusk

13.75 and Boston got Lindholm and Zadorov.

We moved Mikheyev+a 2nd round pick to make room for Debrusk?

Oh well, at least we didn't get Tanev for 6 years and Woll for the price we're paying.

"Better than Toronto" isn't the standard I expect though.

Campbell secures the $775,000 bag in Detroit.

Nashville's wild spending spree left them out of the Beauvillier sweepstakes, the fools! He goes to Pitts for 1.25m

Lindholm was never available to them, sounds like Zadorov wasn’t really either.

Rather we supply ourselves with depth.

The Zad contract is good. The Lindholm contract is, IMO, not good.

DeBrusk is a big swing, but I like it. Sherwood and Heinen are really good value pick ups. Forbot is hopefully a good bottom pairing guy.

I don't mind our day, but am still hoping for some more D help.

It looks like Garland + Joshua are getting promoted next season.

Debrusk-Miller-Boeser
Joshua-EP-Garland
Hoglander-Suter-Sherwood
Heinen-Blueger-Podkolzin
PDG-Aman

Is what I would roll with. Maybe EP's linemates where here all along?

wow. have to think guentzel used someone other than the canes for leverage to get that signing bonus structure out of tampa. if not us then there must have been another bidder.

Considering what other teams did Nucks had an okay day. Still need a scorer on the wings but that could be had at the deadline. Need a top 4 dman though. Defense took too much of a hit. Relying on Myers in the top 4 isn't smart and if Soucy can't stay healthy, it gets very weak.

4 players vs 2.

We would barely field a 23 man roster thats basically the same as last years with those Lindholm and Zadorov contracts procided Silovs comes in at around 1M.

Hoglander Pettersson Lindholm
Suter Miller Boeser
Joshua Blueger Garland
Di Gisueppe Aman Podkolzin

Hughes Hronek
Soucy Myers
Zadorov Juulsen
Friedman

Demko
Silovs (1M)

That leaves 1.7M with Poolman on LTIR

Right now we have about 4.5M to sign or trade for a d-man according to capfriendly.

Hoglander Pettersson Debrusk
Heinen Miller Boeser
Joshua Blueger Garland
Sherwood Suter Podkolzin
Di Giuseppe

Hughes Hronek
Soucy ________
Forbort Myers
Friedman Juulsen

Demko

Silovs (1M)

Also, we have $3m in cap space, more balance in the line up and should be faster, harder to play against and with a better PK. I actually make that trade. We still need some depth on LHD and could really use a top 4 dman in the RHF side. I would like to see us sign sprong for the third line so we can move Joshua further up the line up.

I think if we get spring we can move out Garland to free up cap to get a dman.
