Stamkos makes the most sense. Won Cups, excellent goal scorer and great on the PP, and he's a right shot as well who is good at face offs and can play center if needed or due to injury. Yeah he's older but if I'm handing out $6 million then I'm paying a guy who has done it all and fans will buy tickets to watch him play and buy his jersey. Toffoli doesn't do any of that and Marchessault is a thin skinned baby as his social media rants have shown. Not a good leader.
This exactly, he’s also Canadian.

Tanev, Toffoli, Motte, LHD.

Still don’t see Tanev signed yet confirmed.

Then save the remaining cap for the deadline

No Guentzel hurts but I recall a lot of fans having issues with the Miller deal at his age. It’s very similar and carries risk.

Marchessahult, Stamkos, Tanev all way older and carry extreme risk and will likely be signed long term.

The whole improvement with the organization is that they have mostly stopped doing dumb things.

Just target some players who you can sign to reasonable contracts.

Time to leverage Cap space into a Theodore from Vegas and other teams willing to clear Cap. Laine also feels like a real possibility here with retention.

That management does not seem interested in signing secondary players to bad contracts is a vote of confidence if anything.

You can always add these types of players at the deadline, often on much shorter contracts

Canucks don’t need a bunch of free agents to be a contender next year

Nobody stood a chance at countering except for the Florida Panthers.

Well, there's nothing to be panicking about boys. every very other Western team hasn't done anything major except Chicago signing Tyler Bertuzzi.

We had no chance at Reinhart as he never reached UFA. Reinhart everyone knew he was gonna stay in Florida.
We had no chance at Guentzel as he never reached UFA. I doubt he had any interest in coming to Vancouver and whatever we had to offer, would have been countered by any team with a smaller tax system.

I'm open to some of the leftover options. If it's no more than 3 years. At least we don't have to tie down to one player for 7 years. If not we just go according to plan, I think we really should find another RHD. We can also weaponize our cap room for later use.
