So does anyone have a list of top-6 mid-20's center with control that actually may be available and won't require a gross overpayment?

Other than Norris and Cozens (is he even a center ideally?).

I’m shocked that sellers in the NHL are typically so focused on getting picks for the immediate draft and not for later seasons.

With Tampa’s aging roster—going after a 1st in 2027 is a pretty smart bet on them fading.
GMs generally wants to get the picks immediately so they can utilize it sooner, as their employments are not guaranteed long term, so they likely won't enjoy the fruit of the draft if it is a few years away. Its not the best for the organization, but it is understandable from the GM's perspective.

Novak, McCann, Zegras (is he a winger now?), and Zacha come to mind based on past performance and where their respective teams are currently at.

In 2012 Kings captain Dustin Brown was on the trade block. He responded by scoring a hat trick and they decided not to trade him. That summer they won their first cup.

That is the kind of performance we need to see from Boeser and also EP. Show us you care and that you want to play for this team.

Or Rutherford pushed back and now Aquilini allows hockey ops to do hockey ops.
There is nuance here, though. I don't think Aquilini is actively meddling in hockey operations, but he is absolutely setting the general direction of the team (i.e., compete now) and that is going to influence all of the decisions that management makes.

I am curious if Winnipeg would make a move for Brock as this might be one of their best chances at winning a cup.

With Tampa making that move early wonder if that causes Toronto, Washington, Vegas & Winnipeg to jump into action

Just two days before the deadline, and nobody seems to have a clue which way the Canucks are trending.

Sportsnet is now predicting they'll do very little, not even trading Boeser. But the latest rumor had the Dallas Stars being interested in acquiring Pius Suter, who's rapidly pricing himself out of Vancouver with his excellent play this season.

But obviously that would leave a gaping hole in the Canucks forward group. And if they ended up trading both Suter and Boeser, it would basically be a sign they're running up the white flag on the season. And ownership was probably counting on another season of playoff revenues.

It's one big mystery. May turn out like last season, Allvin has done most of the heavy lifting before the TDL with the trades involving the Rangers and the Pens.

Novak would maybe be an interesting buy-low candidate.

McCann is pretty much a winger now.

I don't know if Zegras is a Tocchet type player.

Zacha is a bit underwhelming, he's probably a 3C ideally.

Yeah, same. My sister has Down syndrome, so Brock has had a special place in my heart ever since he took Baylee Bjorge to her prom back in 2016. He's a good dude and has been a good Canuck.

Definitely a great guy, but the fit is no longer there for us. He wants more than the Canucks have offered (and no criticism of him, he will get more as a UFA). But we need more speed, can't afford to pay him that much for that long, and he doesn't have the center who was feeding him alot.

Best for both sides to make a trade here imho
