I don’t think it hurts to give him another look. He can always go back to Abby, but his play - and the Canucks’ concurrent lack of offense - merit a look, IMO.
Yeah, he's earned more reps up with the big team...he has to get used to the speed and intensity of NHL hockey, might as well give him a taste when he's earned it.

lachance is an okay prospect. he's 6'5, a decent skater and has a chance to be a middle six winger

dunno why they are giving up cap space for him when they're theoretically a buyer though
Seems like Hughes is out and they have a ton of cap now. Maybe they think they still have enough to do all the trades they want.

lol @ the oilers doing a trade with boston and not getting carlo

never been that interested in frederic as an option here, feels like another henrique-like add for them

Vancouver Canucks

  • Thinks it’s a possibility that Boeser gets traded
  • Boeser wants a 7-8 year contract
  • Boeser is in play and the Canucks will listen; are not aggressively trying to trade him
  • Have been looking for scoring winger for some time
  • In the market for a centre
  • Want to add and don’t want to negatively impact their playoff push

elliotte has spoken the spin. let me translate.

-they can't get a market going for boeser to be worth trading him but there's a couple of days to go
-still a bubble team so not making any trades that makes the roster weaker
-no playoff depth loading either - rental moves or stockpiling depth not mentioned.
-they do have standing trade interest areas for long term help that has nothing to do with the tdl. "want to add" in that sense.

so i think they do not have a lot of faith in this season but are not pulling the plug. that would mean opportunistic longterm moves to buy low on someone signed past this season or still an rfa.

not the worst thing in the world in terms of asset management. i wonder if there is no market for boeser or it is just is no market for boeser where they don't make the current roster worse with the return.

tune in tomorrow.

I’d sign Suter to that deal. He’s an extremely useful player for this team, and not as easily replaced as some might think, IMO.
I’d move Hoglander and use that commited cap space to re sign Suter if that’s the route we take. Suter can then fill that wing/center role.

Hoglander has been playing well as of late but 3x3 for a forward who doesn’t PK or PP and is frequently miscasted on this team isn’t exactly efficient.

so nj gets to pay about $800k of frederick's salary plus hauser for lachance.

oilers get frederick as a retained rental and jones as a next season year depth piece and hauser (nj 21 yr old 5th rounder unsigned playing in czechia )

they give up a mid-2nd, a 4th, wanner (21 yr old 7th rounder 2nd season in the ahl) and lachance (21 year old 6th rounder ncaa big body forward middling prouction).

that's actually quite a bit. jones is a nothing player. wanner is a developing prospect and lachance will get signed.

If Hughes is out for the season they have a mountain of LTIR space they aren't going to use, so they essentially buy a fairly decent prospect (probably somewhere 6-10 on their prospect list) by doing this.

I’m continually amazed at Edmonton stockpiling forwards while not addressing their D and G.

To be fair, their forwards are also shit.

All we can do is give the kids as much playing time as possible if they decide to sell off.

Need to see what they have in EP25, Willander, Raty and Lekkerimaki in big boy roles.
