If EDM wants to move a player w a NMC so they came make caps space then this would be a perfect time to weaponize our cap space

I have to agree with MS...teams are not going to give up on playoffs when firmly in the race. The aggressiveness in moves might change but trying to make the playoffs won't.

We see "only two home playoff games". Management sees the ability to sell consecutive years in the playoffs along with a Norris winner to potential UFAs and in contract negotiations with those they have the rights.

That said, I still think keeping him without a contract in place is a mistake. At the very least you need to know you are close to a deal if you take that option.
Not a lot of people are talking about management, referencing more ownership as having the motivation to make the playoffs which is definitely true, but absolutely so does management. Management are by and large evaluated based on playoff births, and in a few years time, or whenever, when ownership sits down and evaluates this management group, and decides whether to fire them or not, absolutely they will look at the number of years they have made the playoffs.

And whenever Allvin is fired, when he goes to try to get another GM job, absolutely that team will look at how many times Allvin's teams had previously made the playoffs.

So management absolutely is going to be short term focused at the expense of the long term. Typically, one of the benefits of the president/gm structure is that the president can be more long term focused, but this benefit was almost completely eroded by hiring a dinosaur in JR who then hired his buddy in Alvin. It probably didn't matter anyway since ownership is so short term focused that it wouldn't matter if the president actually was long term focused.

So, for the Canucks, you've unfortunately got an owner that is short term focused, a president that is short term focused, and a GM that is short term focused. And if you believe the rumour regarding ownership wanting to sell the team, then none of these parties may be involved at all with the Canucks in 5-7 years leaving just the fans to deal with the long term fall out.

Mentioned him earlier today. If you can convince the Isle to retain 350K its a great deal.

Would love him on the 2LW w Chytil.

Debrusk
Duclair
Dak

All a sudden we have some size on that side
Size? Isn't Duclair under 6ft? And Debrusk is only listed at 6'0?

Boeser for 2026 CBJ 1st and Luca Del.Bel Belluz.

This is my copium. For our turd of an owner.
That would be lovely, but CBJ is pretty enamored with LDBB at the moment. I don't see him moving for a rental.

I like the idea of targeting Samoskevich. I remember him being a real boom/busy target of the draft on this board.

Dreger's comments have me thinking. Aside from the centres we've been speculating about (Norris, ROR, etc.) there's someone else that I wouldn't completely rule out considering the team.

William Karlsson

He's having a down year (18 points in 38 games), he struggled last playoffs (2 assists and no goals in 7 games), he's entering his mid 30s. Maybe they're looking at pivoting off a player on the decline. He's currently on LTIR but has been skating again for the past week.

The trade would obviously have to include Boeser. Vegas likes to make bold moves out of nowhere and they have the centre depth to spare.

Probably not happening, but it's just a thought.

I personally think this team needs to be realistic about our 2025 chances. I don't see a point in making the playoffs to get wasted. What we can do is just call it a day, play for draft position but not totally gut the team. LIke what the Sharks did in 2015. They completely missed the playoffs but kept their pieces for a realistic go next year and they made the finals. We can work with free agency and see whats out there, hope everyone is healthy and go for a good 2025 start.

Spoke with my Uber driver.

They think the reason it’s quiet is because mgmt is working on two deals.

One to trade Boeser.

The other to acquire a C with assets from the Boeser deal.

Just trying to lock down the C deal framework before they pull the trigger on the Boeser deal.
