Post-Game Talk: Habs defeat Sabres in OT

  • Xenforo Cloud has upgraded us to version 2.3.6. Please report any issues you experience.
No, it’s actually an issue with lack of experience, and the style of hockey they play. I swear after complaining about dump and chase, clog the neutral zone, most of you want to go back to that style and grind out 2-1 wins.

Me? I’ve seen enough Habs teams that couldn’t score but sure as shit could strangle a game to death and win 1-0. I’ll take the excitement thank you.
Who's talking about shutting it down? I'm talking about the same intensity and hunger to go out and win 6-0 instead of 3-0. Instead, they get complacent and do exactly what you don't want: they stop trying to score.

Dude, we had 8 shots in two periods. Players were standing around allowing the left for dead Sabres to get back in it. There was no reason to let off the gas in such an obvious manner.

MSL looked really bad tonight, especially after the playoffs starting tonight comments. He had opportunities to call a timeout, but as usual, he did nothing.

It is on the coaching staff to instruct the players to tighten things down after a 2 or 3 goal lead, and we rarely see it. There is no excuse for this crap in year 3 of him being bench boss.
Or rather than toghten things down, keep the pressure up and get some more. The other team is demoralized. Just keep going at them but without taking unnecessary risks. It's killer instinct. Team is young... yeah I get it. But that's what a coaching staff is for. So I agree about most of your statement.

Thats not the game I saw. 6 mins left Slaf had a beast mode shift, at one point three guys way down low, they were pushing like crazy.

They just don’t have the horses to win 6-0. After Suzuki they go Evans, Dvorak and Beck. Basically a 30 point C, a 25 point C and a 10 point pace C. Gally is second on goals

They didn’t look great but I didn’t see any evidence of defensive hockey, which I appreciate. And the other team was playing desperate, and shot totals aside, Monty wasn’t great.

But they won, which I think is still good? Unless I’m doing this fan thing wrong.

They got the win, good. Young club will learn. People here seem to forget that our top 4 players in points are aged between 20 to 25. This is a very young team, 2nd youngest in the league. Those situations will happen.

But they won. And playing meaningful games so late in the season, which was the main goal at the start. Enjoy it!

I can't believe the Habs have won 5 straight without Guhle or a 2nd line. That's incroyable.

One win vs SJ
Two win vs Buffalo

And two of those wins came on 3vs 3 pond hockey.

It's good that it worked out in the end but if it didn't the team would have been demoralized and set to spiral downwards again. The 3-0 blown lead to the Leafs was the back breaking straw the last time and not injuries to the roster.

They could have easily took a 5-0 lead in this game, the Sabres had nothing and looked like a Jr team out there and Reimer was brutal but instead we quit. If they say they want to push for the playoffs they need to find a way to put teams away. One way to do it is to play better defensively and stop giving up the middle of the ice.

In saying this, I realize we are young and will make mistakes but the coach should help them overcome things and MSL didn't tonight. Luck be a lady though and we won.

Not for nothing but....

Pittsburgh is dead last in the Metro and 2nd bottom in the East.
The ultimate dream for me would be to see him in a Habs jersey.

I know we probably didn’t deserve to win this game and Reimer helped us win by playing soft, but sometimes winning ugly happens. I’m okay with it and the scoreboard shows we added two points…….and it would not be any different if we won beautifully instead of ugly. So, I for one am taking my two points and going home happy. Next…..

Sharks just beat the Leafs in Toronto.

Alhough we barely just beat San Jose and Bufffalo twice, they're NHL teams that are capable of playing well. So at least we took care of business.

Edmonton will be a good test.

Great game by Neckless Suzuki, but big shootout to my boy Laine d'Ourson for another multi apple game.

Can't forget about Colle Caufield too. Contrats on the 30th goal.

I watched on delay. Wished they'd shut the door in regulation but they got the W and that's all we need right now. Suzuki is so good. Love that 4pt cushion for his totals. Caufield just needs 1-2 multi goal games and he can reach 40 by seasons end. So pumped for him.

Slafkovsky was great at keeping the play alive and multiple times tonight sabres just fell off of him when they tried to take him out behind the net.

Montembault held the fort pretty well.

I can't believe we're in the mix so close to the deadline. Can't wait to see how Hughes proceeds

5 wins streak.

1 win against the Sharks on 3 vs 3 pond hockey
2 wins against Buffalo with one of them in a 3 vs 3 pond hockey.

Easy shit opponents will put us in no mans land. Easy schedule will f*** us over.
