But looking at this season so far, and the team as is, are they really better than UTA/STL/CGY/SEA/ANA? Like actually in any material way? How we should be looking at this club, on talent, they might be worse than UTA (IMO UTA is certainly a better quality team) and STL at this point. And like on the same level as CGY/ANA/SEA. That's not good.

Agreed on your Boeser point. I don't think MIN/Guerin have any particular attachment to him.

I 100% agree. We are definitely in the same category as those teams and like you said and both Utah especially and possibly St. Louis are arguably better. Both Utah and Anaheim are are on a sharp rise. We should definitely be focusing on the future but I doubt we will.

We also don’t have a Vegas/Florida weather/tax advantage. It’s always going to be much harder building through UFA/trade for our team. That means we really do have to build through the draft. And that includes selling when it makes sense.

We absolutely should be gathering assets like smart teams do. This has been an up and down year. It's totally justified.

Deadline rentals rarely include a good prospect, especially Boeser level. The deadline buyer will dump a 1st because they have no attachment to a 1st unlike a promising prospect. A badly developing prospect holds little interest to the team selling a the deadline. This changes will contracted players.



In boesers case I think it will be a 1st, give or take.

Took a welcome break last night because of a family birthday celebration. It felt weird just monitoring the score, but a bit of a relief considering the outcome.

I've wondered if last year's semi-successful season was a blessing or a curse. It was such fun when we were doing well last year so I'm glad it happened even if it was short-lived. Without a healthy Hughes, Demko and EP40, this season is most likely a write-off, unless the management can pull off a minor miracle.

I'm ready for anything this week. I've been dug in with this team for 55 years. Back to the trenches we go.

But yeah, also if you feel strongly about 40’s conditioning and attitude, go for it. I don’t blame anyone for any emotional reactions. It sucks. Everything about this has sucked.

Getting a guy like Demko with a proven track record and being able to manage his load with a team that's been winning with Merzlikins in net - I mean, it's a rare opportunity for that organization. Demko's shown to be a vezina level talent - the league will absolutely recognize that, especially when he only costs $5 million.

Simultaneously look at Carolina - Andersen has had serious medical issues and they've made their big swing at Rantanen. They should be doing everything to bolster their line up.

I'd only suggest a Demko trade if management felt Lankinen is there guy, there's uncertainty in the organization when it comes to Demko's ability to stay healthy despite reduced workloads, and they would like to shore up their offense.

It's the classic trade from a position of strength to address a weakness.

He's getting nothing at 5.5 mil right now, he's still hurt, he'll have to work his way back again

I absolutely refuse to boo individual players. I think it’s childish behaviour, but I won’t stop anyone either. I agree it will just further alienate 43.

call me soft have at it but I am dug in on that

"Jesus". Relax, "bro"

Agree to disagree. Players that have injury risk will still get traded - not at peak value, but they'll still get traded for a moderate return. Kirby Dach and Jamie Drysdale are 2 recent example of players that had major season ending injuries (worse than Demko's) yet still had a solid return. Yes, they're forwards and goaltenders have less value, but Demko is still a vezina caliber talent and at $5 million, why wouldn't a team like Columbus or Carolina lick their chops at that.

Booing the club is fine. Booing an individual Canuck player is definitely not okay. It’s not being tough to boo an individual player. Did we even boo Messier?

I could see Buffalo going for EP40. They can’t sign high end UFA’s and Pettersson comes with a long term contract. Boeser would be a rental. Can’t see the Sabres wanting a rental.

I wasn’t around for the Messier days but back then any idiot could call into a local station and voice their voice.

Now we have twitter which just shortens the feedback loop for stupidity to flow faster now with zero breaks and now people double down because they think they are the majority. Echo chambers.
