Keep Hogs, he's been really good the last 10-15 games and is showing his game is coming back. It would be silly to sell low on him, especially when he has 24 goal talent.Soucy, boeser, suter, forbort, hoglander(if possible) all need to be gone by trade deadline
explore demko and pettersson deals before draft, and if either are decent value you have to do it before the draft
Use what we get from them to acquire a young c, realistically we need 2. Chytil is probably more of a winger
This roster has a bunch of overpaid 3rd and 4th liners again
yep. it makes some sense if they are indeed burned on rantanan. they are clearly star chasing. having been burned on guentzel they may conclude they have to trade for someone signed longterm and they have been after ep40 for a while. but then there is the play of ep40.It's just me, but with the Canes having missed out on extended Guentzel and now seeming like Rantanen would go to UFA, if they'd circle back on Pettersson just to be able to have a "superstar" locked in contract wise on the roster.
Rantanen would obviously need to be extended for the Canucks to think about that swap. But just something that's sat in my mind for a little bit.
1st + a good forward prospect. The teams wanting to trade for him are in a win now position so I'm sure they'd be willing to give up one of their better prospects. The Canucks can leverage that 1st, which I suspect they will based on all their other acquisitions involving a 1st.
Additionally, because of the cap room, they can likely take on an overpaid player that can fill a role here and get more assets in order to revamp the team as necessary.
None of this matters if Petey continues to suck, unfortunately.
I'm on the trade Demko, Suter, and Soucy train right now. Boeser is a 50/50 - he's shown to be a high end finisher when there's speed on his line and someone to pass him the puck. Still very valuable - but maybe not $8 million valuable.
It's fascinating that people think that Brock is going to return a 1st and a good prospect. Do these people watch the games? I can assure you the scouts do and they notice how useless Brock is without Miller. I can't see his return exceeding a 2nd.Imagine the sabres scouting our games and deciding they need to acquire a EP and Boeser package lol. Defies belief.
Gustav Nyquist just returned a 2nd and he’s on pace for 30 points. There’s several teams who would be willing to trade a 1st for Boeser. It's fascinating that people think that Brock is going to return a 1st and a good prospect. Do these people watch the games? I can assure you the scouts do and they notice how useless Brock is without Miller. I can't see his return exceeding a 2nd.
I really don't think Petey can play the Canes' fast aggressive forechecking system, it's hard to understand why they have so much interest in him still.yep. it makes some sense if they are indeed burned on rantanan. they are clearly star chasing. having been burned on guentzel they may conclude they have to trade for someone signed longterm and they have been after ep40 for a while. but then there is the play of ep40.
plus, logically rantenan goes the other way and the receiving team has to have him extended.
In a vacuum, yeah maybe. But teams like Columbus are having an anomaly of a year and their goaltending is DREADFUL. Getting a guy like Demko with a proven track record and being able to manage his load with a team that's been winning with Merzlikins in net - I mean, it's a rare opportunity for that organization. Demko's shown to be a vezina level talent - the league will absolutely recognize that, especially when he only costs $5 million.Demko gets you nothing right now. He had no offseason to train, give him one offseason and see if he can stay healthy and then you make a decision.
Boeser is 100% move. He needs to be one fast team with a set up man to succeed. With Miller gone he is a 20-25 goal player now. On a team that's fast and has a play maker center he's a 40 goal guy
And therein lies why the Canucks don't want to pay him for term, they know their lineup, they know he won't produce like that here
If those 2 are our top 6 RW next year then we will fight for a top 10 pick.We have Garland and Lekkerimaki as top 6 RWs next year.
That is not a playoff team.We have Garland and Lekkerimaki as top 6 RWs next year.
We have Garland and Lekkerimaki as top 6 RWs next year.
your last 50 posts are identical. We get it. EP is great and and you believe in him. MAGA morons are bad.Last year went so well I forgot how many posters have a natural disposition to just quit and bail on the team and its players.
"We should tank".
We're literally in a playoff spot right now with 23 games left.
NOBODY is saying this is a year to trade futures to support this incarnation of the team.
And I think we should trade Boeser. But 'trade everything that isn't nailed down' is just quitter mentality.
"I hope we don't make the playoffs because we'll just get blown out".
Playoffs are valuable experience and also the most fun a lot of players have. If you don't want to watch them, then don't. But we all know you would.
I have literally seen posts of people saying if we try to blow ourselves up maybe we could even pick like top 12 (in a terrible draft). Like, do you enjoy the sport at all or just like buying lottery tickets?

This year has gone horrifically and we're still currently in the playoffs.
You guys do know that the world isn't ending in June, right? Like this season is a learning experience for this team and making the playoffs through this adversity is meaningful.

"Trade Petey, I'm tired of him. He makes 11.6 blah blah".
Do you play the stock market? If so, do you have to skip meals and use a rope for a belt?
I'm a big believer in Petey and think he's going to make a lot of people look dumb for wanting to dump him for the disappointing Cozens.
I get he has an NMC coming up. But by what mechanism do you think he's literally never going to be good again?
This isn't Loui Eriksson who has completely lost his legs and is already into his 30's.
This isn't OEL who lost his legs and is in his 30's.
This is an incredibly talented 26 year old who has struggled incredibly due to a confluence of factors.
Injury leading to poor training, combined with likely imposter syndrome due to the contract, combined with dealing with a MAGA moron trying to bully him all season.
Do I wish he could have thrived in spite of all of this? Yes. Has it been incredibly frustrating to watch him struggle to the extent that he has? Yes.
But a good GM holds here unless you learn he has Demko's hips or something.
A Mike Milbury makes an emotional decision and dumps him for a 'good Canadian kid' like Cozens who is so overrated in this market it's hilarious. His career high is basically a bad year for Petey (other than this one) and he sucks defensively and doesn't have much vision.
But posters haven't watched him and aren't angry at him so they want to make the move, which they can then blame Alvin for next season when Petey is back on a 90 point pace and Cozens is struggling to reach 50.
My last 50 posts are refutations of the same 12 posters seethe posting about how him struggling THIS last game means we need to really trade him.your last 50 posts are identical. We get it. EP is great and and you believe in him. MAGA morons are bad.
sorry but you are on the whiny bandwagon. you are whining that people are whining about your favorite player. Fans have a right to be upset that our highest paid player appears to not give a flying f*** about playing in Vancouver. Or even playing hockey for that matter. He appears completely checked out. The "whining" will stop when he puts in effort. It's not just about the points it's about the process. My last 50 posts are refutations of the same 12 posters seethe posting about how him struggling THIS last game means we need to really trade him.
I said two months ago he's not going to look right until next season. Seeing people act like each new game where he's still skating in mud and can't shoot or trust his body is a sign he 'doesn't care hurr durr 11.6 million' is exhausting and demands a response.
I'm sorry that it's hard for you that I'm not jumping on the whiny bandwagon.
Columbus would probably really want Garland. Evason had lots of small players in Minny that played well.We have Garland and Lekkerimaki as top 6 RWs next year.
I am better than you all because of my opinion.
