Tommy Novak looked like an underrated breakout candidate for a couple of seasons. I can see the logic there. I think for the Preds, Bunting gives them a higher floor at cap neutral.

Of course with Dubas, one former Leaf out requires another to come in.

Not sure what SJ is cooking with VD but clearly they have the cap and time to see if they can figure him out like we tried to. 2028 5th is less than pennies.

Because the objective in the NHL is to hit and not score goals... lmao.

117 points in 201 games as a late bloomer that can play center. 27 with a small cap hit at 3.5M signed for two more years after this.

The Canucks need a lot of things. I understand the spot they were in given Demko is basically cooked, but if you are betting long-term on a non-elite goalie, you're almost assuredly going to lose because goalies are voodoo.

Right, it's not ideal, but it's still a moveable deal if they happen to come across somebody better at some point, especially with where the cap's going.

So, IMO, they paid a bit of a premium for the position they were in and locked up a marginally better and younger goalie than Lindgren.
