I can see them keeping Soucy, but if they're aiming for an upgrade at forward and can include him with a Boeser, it might make sense to do it. He does have more value than some people think.

I thought he looked pretty good on the right side, they should play him there and kick Juulsen to the curb.

Ehlers Pettersson Marner would be fun to watch. Zamboni would only have to clean the outside of the ice in the offensive zone though

Who’s trading an upgrade on Boeser for Boeser and Soucy?

Really? I understand he's had injury issues, but he's a play driving winger, and outside of Garland, there's no winger with that kind of profile in our lineup.
I don't see it with ehlers, injuries most obvious but there's alot of skate fast and accomplish nothing in his game, not as effective in playoffs, and he's about to get overpaid, possibly large.

Winnipeg got all his best years at peak contract value, and he still missed 120+ games, I def do not now pay more for his 30-35 yr old seasons.

(Sorta kinda like nyr buying jtm for all the downside years of his career)

And maybe a +, don't know, but both of those players do have some value. Unexpected trades happen. Doesn't have to be an immediate upgrade, could be a younger high upside player from a team deep in youth and dealing for more seasoned players.

Ehlers is a great player but as mentioned injury prone about to get massively paid with term and can never stay healthy. Not just that the more tightly composed contested playoff game so far has been a nightmare for him to get anything accomplished.

I would prefer to avoid that grenade even if it came with a couple amazing regular seasons

There has to be something there. The drop off from pre and post all-star break has persisted, and it backs up the eye test. He has next to no burst.

What a difficult context from which to make roster decisions. Pettersson-Boeser haven't clicked, but does that happen if Pettersson regains his speed? If so, do you deal Boeser?

Next, Soucy moving is automatic after the MPetey acquisition. Was only a matter of time.

Re: Seravalli: Has not been kind to the Canucks, but I don't think you can dismiss him. Was one of the first to break the Pettersson re-signing. He's been on the ball for many other things as well. Just have to take the extra rhetoric about the Canucks with a grain of salt, like MPetey a #5 Dman... lol.

I wonder if the Flames would bite on:

Hoglander
Soucy
2nd

For

Sharangovich 500K retained

I feel like Yegor fits the teams identity, skill set and age group. He can shoot and has above average skating. He’s over paid at 5.75M but offsetting Hog would help a bit.

There's definltely something to this. The key question is, will he regain his speed and even more importantly, will he regain his shot? Difficult questions to answer but a lot is riding on getting this correct.

This management group is ruthless. The rest of the league should thank us for the endless entertainment and for 50-60% of player movement every year 😂

With the Soucy rumours, feels sort of like the front office has a mandate to cut future dollars, due to the weak Canadian dollar.

Soon the Nucks may be trying to “compete” with the salary outlay of the flames.

(Or maybe management is just being ruthless and unsentimental, aka Vegas).

Soucy obviously didn't sign for 3 years to be a 7th defenseman. Saying he wants to work it out probably doesn't include being a regular healthy scratch. If Willander does make the team in the spring, there's going to be that much more competition.

Think we've got enough organizational depth - even though some of it is still un/barely tested at the NHL level - to move him. Whether for an equivalent level C, or picks that can be used in further deals (or used on draft day I guess..lololol).

Moves like this help to both extend and maximize a competitive window. Some risk when it comes to depth, but also opportunity for prospects.
